COVID-19 Impact on Central Oregon
Unfortunately, the effects of COVID-19 are rippling through all aspects of our lives. Governor Kate Brown ordered restaurants and bars closed for 30 days, allowing for take-out orders and packaged beverages to go. Last night, the Sunriver Resort announced a resort-wide shut down effective immediately and lasting until May 15th. Mt. Bachelor shut down all operations starting Sunday and tentatively scheduled through the 22nd. Sadly there is every reason to believe Mt. Bachelor will not re-open this season. The pristine mountain with empty roads in the photo above created a surreal experience. Fortunately, our economy was healthy coming into this pandemic, and we will recover. Interest rates are still low, along with our housing inventory combined with continued strong buyer demand. Call me if you have specific questions about the market.

Social Distancing at the Big Deschutes River
Since social distancing is the word of the day, I grabbed my camera and headed out to snap some pictures. Winter isn't finished with us yet, although today was delightful. Longer days and warmer weather are becoming more common. Pandemic or not, we are coming into the peak season for real estate, and judging by my conversations this last week, there will be steady activity in the real estate market. Today's technology allows unprecedented access for buyers to preview homes without ever setting foot inside. The way we tour houses and interact may be changing, but the market doesn't stop!
