Sunnyvale Names Anthony Cao New Assistant Town Manager

The Town of Sunnyvale is enhancing its leadership team by naming a new Assistant Town Manager, Anthony Cao.

Cao will begin his new role with Sunnyvale on Nov. 19. Cao brings more than a decade of municipal leadership experience and a proven record of strategic planning, financial stewardship and organizational leadership across several North Texas communities. Throughout his career, he has managed multimillion-dollar budgets and led cross-departmental initiatives.

“We conducted an extensive search for a leader who possesses both executive-level experience and strategic perspective necessary to help guide Sunnyvale through its next chapter,” said Town Manager Dannette Garcia. “Anthony’s experience serving in a City Manager’s Office, developing long-range organizational strategies and delivering results across multiple service areas makes him exceptionally qualified to help advance the Town’s vision for the future.”

Cao most recently served as the City of Mesquite’s director of Housing and Community Services, where he led six divisions and managed a portfolio exceeding $24 million and led initiatives focused on strengthening community partnerships, improving service delivery, and expanding access to essential resources.

Imagine Sunnyvale - Next Steps

The Sunnyvale Town Council will consider adoption of the Town's Comprehensive Plan at its Monday meeting, holding a public hearing and the first reading of the adoption ordinance.

The Imagine Sunnyvale process included more than a year of public input, research and planning. The Plan will serve as the Town's official guide for land use and development for the next 20 years. It addresses several key topics, including the future land use map, development of residential, commercial, and employment areas, transportation, community facilities and public infrastructure.

Thanks to a new partnership with the Sunnyvale Garden Club and Sunnyvale ISD, the Doris Padgett Public Library is proud to present something new for Sunnyvale: our Seed Library.

We've got a great selection of flower and vegetable seeds to grow. Just come by the library, browse the Seed Library cabinet (conveniently located next to the gardening books), pick out packets of seeds, bring them to the front to check out, then head home and plant.

Ask about how to donate seeds during your next visit.

Let us help get Sunnyvale growing, and share the joy of plants with others.
