| | Gymphatic Drainage Therapy | | |
Gymphatic drainage therapy is a specialized body work technique that applies repetitive pressure at lymph node sites and a stroking technique along lymph vessels, that stimulates the movement and removal of inflammation and fluid from the head, face, chin, and neck. It also includes the use of Cranial Sacral Therapy and Head/scalp acupressure. These combined techniques also helps with the movement of cerebral spinal fluid and drainage/flushing of the glymphatic system of the brain.
This therapy assists with:
- Post surgical swelling of head, face and spinal column
- Lymph edema with Cancer of the face and brain
- Inflammation of scalp and neck
- Sinusitis and sinus pressure
- Post Sinus Surgery Care
- Neck pain
- Dizziness
- Full feeling in head
- Foggy thinking, memory issues
- Puffy eyes
- Face lift post-surgical effects
and more...
| What is the Glymphatic System | |
The Glymphatic System is a waste clearance system that utilizes a unique route of channels, that promotes the efficient elimination of the bi-products of cellular metabolism of the brain, and nervous system. Along with the waste elimination, the Glymphatic System also functions to help distribute non-waste compounds, such as glucose, lipids, amino acids, and neurotransmitters related to volume transmission, in the brain.
Function of the Glymphatic System is suppressed in various diseases such as neurodegenerative disorders, traumatic brain injury, concussion, and stroke.
Clearance of waste from the bi-product of metabolism, in the brain and spinal cord system, is critical for tissue homeostasis. In the peripheral areas surrounding the brain, where the Glymphatic System resides, soluble materials, proteins, cellular debris and fluid are then returned to the general circulation by way the lymphatic system in the meningeal and cervical lymph vessels, which surrounds the outer edges of the brain cavity. These meninges are membrane layers that envelop the brain and spinal cord, thereby protecting these delicate tissues.
The Glymphatic System is most active during sleep and periods of rest. This is when it is most effective in the removal of cellular debris.
According to ancient Ayurvedic wisdom, when there is congestion in the brain there is a link to anxiety, depression, cognitive decline, inflammation, and foggy thinking.
