Earth Day 2023 Photo Contest:
Think Globally, Act Locally!
Show us how you take climate action in our community. Celebrate Earth Month by sharing photos of ways you reduce your gas emissions and protect the environment. The City invites residents to submit photos inspired by any of the focus areas of the Sustainability and Climate Action Plan (S/CAP): Climate Action, Energy, Electric Vehicles, Mobility, Water, Climate Adaptation and Sea Level Rise, Natural Environment, and Zero Waste.

Be creative and share how you make a difference for the planet during Earth Month and beyond. There will be one grand prize winner who will win a tour at the GreenWaste Palo Alto Recycling facility to see how our recyclables are managed. Category winners will be featured on the City’s social media and website.

Submissions are due April 30. Learn more and enter today!
Host a Zero Waste Event this Spring
Warmer weather makes us excited to get outside to gather with friends, family, and neighbors. Unfortunately, large gatherings can also produce a lot of waste. For your next big event this spring and summer, reduce your waste by checking out our tools to help, such a free Zero Waste Party Packs to borrow, printable recycling and compost bin signs, and best practice guides. Find more tips and resources here.
Switch to an Electric Water Heater
Installations have begun for the City’s Heat Pump Water Heater program and now it is easier than ever to switch to an electric water heater. Take advantage of pre-negotiated prices, two payment options, and a streamlined full-service solution. Switching to electric is better for the environment, your wallet, and your health.
