Spotlight On: Men's Mental Health Month

June is Men's Mental Health Month, and while conversations around mental health have become more common, the way emotional pain can show up in men's lives is still not discussed enough.

So many of us are trying to be there for men in our lives, yet it's easy to ignore or overlook our men who are turning to alcohol and other drugs instead of reaching out to their loved ones or professionals for help.

Young Adults are Using Cannabis to Sleep at Alarming Rates

New data from the University of Michigan's annual Monitoring the Future Panel Study shows that using substances to help with sleep is common among young adults. The study, funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, found that 22% of Americans ages 19 to 30 said they used cannabis, alcohol, or both to help themselves sleep, with cannabis being the most popular substance.

Researchers warn this strategy can backfire, disrupting sleep quality and increasing the risk of long-term sleep and substance use problems. The findings highlight the importance of screening for both issues and offering coordinated support when needed.

State of American Men 2025

In a time when conversations about masculinity are often polarized, Equimundo’s State of American Men 2025 report offers a research-driven look at the emotional, economic, and social realities shaping the lives of men today.

The report explores how financial insecurity, loneliness, rigid gender expectations, and online radicalization are contributing to rising mental health struggles and feelings of disconnection among boys and men across the United States. The findings also point toward meaningful solutions rooted in emotional connection, caregiving, mentorship, and community support. The report challenges readers to consider how unmet emotional and social needs impact not only individual well-being, but also families and communities as a whole.
