Advertising Opportunity
Each year, the Mitchell Convention & Visitors Bureau produces the
official
Mitchell Guide to Everything. This magazine-style guide features articles and photography highlighting unique points of interest, fun things to do and relocation information for those who want to know more about the Mitchell community. Of course, the guide also offers convenient lists of dining and lodging options, as well as a full Chamber member list.
The Mitchell Guide to Everything is a collaboration between the Mitchell Chamber,Convention & Visitors Bureau, Mitchell Area Development Corporation and TDG Advertising Agency. On our behalf, Chad Blair,TDG sells advertising opportunities for the guide.
The Convention & Visitors Bureau ensures these guides are located in the Corn Palace, Mitchell hotels, restaurants, businesses and various rest stops, as well as online at
www.MitchellSD.com
. We also mail the guide upon request. The guide serves as a resource for those who live and work within the Mitchell region, as well as for visitors to our community and those who may want to become residents.
There are several companies that sell advertising for various Mitchell guides. Some of those companies claim to be working with the Chamber/CVB. Please note: At this time, we are
only
working with TDG Advertising Agency.
If your business would like to participate in the
official
Mitchell Guide to Everything, please contact Ben Wagner at
ben@mitchellsd.com
or by
calling 996-6223.
The deadline for ad submissions is November 15, 2019.

Leadership SD, DWU welcome ‘four Steves’ to panel discussion
Mitchell Kernels, George McGovern and the call to public service is the theme for a Leadership South Dakota and Dakota Wesleyan University panel discussion on Thursday, Oct. 24.
The keynote speakers are Mitchell natives, Steve Erpenbach, Steve Hildebrand, Steve Jarding, and Steve Kinsella — described as the “four Steves.” All speakers share a rich history and are key South Dakota figures who have devoted their professional lives to public service at the state and national levels.
“As we enter our sixth year of the program, it’s great for past members to get together and share their experiences,” said Leadership SD Program Director, Rick Melmer. “This year’s alumni event is even more exciting thanks to this speaker lineup.”
“This is going to be a great, impactful evening full of insights and stories about the past, present and future of South Dakota politics,” said event moderator, Vernon Brown. “It’s not often that you get this many political legends in a room together, so we didn’t want to limit the evening event to Leadership South Dakota Alumni.”
Activities for Leadership South Dakota alumni will begin at 1 p.m. Site tours at the Abbott House and Vantage Point Systems will be available, as well as other alumni activities. Dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. with the keynote event: “Four Steves: Kernels, George McGovern, and the Call to Public Service,” to follow at 7:15 p.m. in the DWU Sherman Center.
Registration is required. There is no cost for members of the Leadership South Dakota alumni network, or DWU President’s Circle members to attend the dinner and panel discussion. Tickets for non-Leadership South Dakota alumni network members and the general public are $25 per person. Deadline for registration is October 18, 2019. For registration and more information, visit

Business Invitation:
Looking for: A hero, who comes out after dark, with a sweet tooth, crazy ensemble, and a vehicle with a trunk that can be transformed into a hauntingly fun candy stop.
Who: YOU (and those you choose to volunteer☺), dressed in a costume of your choice (keep in mind this is an event for small children). Not too scary, not too skimpy, and plenty warm.
What: 20
th
Annual Trunk or Treat (an event that will provide a safe trick or treating opportunity for children 2nd grade and under). We are expecting over 1,000 kids this year!
When: Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 4-6pm (trunks are asked to be there by 3:30 to allow for parking and decorating)
Where: Mitchell Middle School parking lot
Why: This is a great way to advertise your organization (you can put a sign on your vehicle and hand out personalized business items), and this is an opportunity to make this Halloween safe and memorable for the children in this community.
What if: You are a business that is interested in sponsoring a trunk, but do not have people to work at the trunk or a trunk to use? What if you are a non-profit and would like to participate but do not have the funds to do so? We will partner businesses and nonprofits together so that everyone can be involved. Candy can be brought to the Mitchell Middle School and donations can be made payable to the Mitchell Middle School (800 West 10
th
Ave).
This partnership is a venture between Mitchell High School and Middle School Unfiltered REALity and the Mitchell Tobacco Prevention Coalition.
A safe and fun event for youth, planned by youth.
