Rocket City Launches First RFA Community

What better location to launch a new respite ministry than Alabama’s Rocket City? Another exciting year expanding the Respite for All model got off to a great start on January 21 when 70 new volunteers showed up at First Baptist Church in Huntsville to be trained for the opening of Oasis Respite Care next month. We’re so happy to welcome them to the RFA network!

Dementia Education Offered in Directors Call

For our first Directors Call of the year, held on January 13, more than 40 directors from across the country gathered for a presentation on "anosognosia" led by Ruth Minnema, RN, MA. Ruth is a Colorado-based Eden Educator and Certified DAWN Trainer who facilitates Anosognosia Webinars with Dementia Action Alliance participants (DAA). Anosognosia is a condition where individuals have a lack of awareness and insight into their own health conditions, which frequently leads to stress and conflict.

Princeton Students Visit Respite Ministry

RFA and the Respite Ministry at FUMC Montgomery hosted 40 students from Princeton Theological Seminary as they made their way across the country touring successful ministries. We had a great time sharing our story and hope this visit will plant seeds for years to come.
