Summer Parks Programming & Virtual Village
Summer programming will begin in July and registration is underway now. Like everything in our lives these days, finding a safe way to keep Ossining kids entertained requires a different approach. Click here to learn more about Recreation and Parks summer programming .

The first episode of Virtual Village launched last Wednesday. Click here to check out my interview with Elmer Oliveros, owner of Brothers Fish & Chips . This new initiative is designed to highlight a variety of local businesses. The trustees and I have come up with a list to get us started, and we will keep adding to it if the series proves to be a success. Tune in on Facebook or the Village's YouTube page.

Last week's work session included an exciting discussion about parking meters. Maybe you've parked at one of the village's antiquated meters and realized you didn't have any quarters handy, or perhaps the meter at your spot was broken. At long last, we are moving forward with a new parking system that includes stations with the flexibility to pay with an app, a credit card, or good old fashioned quarters.

Not included in the meeting's written agenda was a discussion of policies related to outdoor seating, which took place prior to the parking meters. The village board is committed to helping local businesses recover during this time of economic contraction and social distancing. Click here for the agenda and video link .

New Weekly Live Updates
For months during the pandemic I was providing daily live updates on Facebook and YouTube. Soon Village Hall will be open to the public and I'll figure out how to establish a new version of Open Office Hours. Meanwhile, I've decided to host a weekly live update. In my Covid life, Thursdays work best for me, so this Thursday, July 2 at 11am I'll go live on Facebook to offer important updates, and share responses to recent emails and messages. Even if you are not on Facebook, you can find my updates anytime on the Village YouTube channel .

To reach out by email:
  • Mayor Victoria Gearity (gearity@villageofossining.org);
  • Board of Trustees (bot@villageofossining.org); or
  • Village Manager Karen D'Attore (kdattore@villageofossining.org).

Wednesday's Meeting
This week's work session includes ratifying the appointment of Dale Brennan to be the Village Treasurer. Last week's work session began with a proclamation and many thoughtful accolades for our long serving Treasurer, Tom Warren. Tomorrow is Tom's official last day, but thankfully he will continue to provide us with some consulting services for specific projects for the coming months. We are very fortunate that after many years as our Deputy Treasurer, Dale has agreed to step up to this position. We wish her all the best in her new expanded role as the leader of our Finance Department.

Also on this week's agenda will be the next step in the village board considering new wetlands legislation. We will be voting on a resolution to the village board as lead agency and to determine the proposed legislation as a Type 1 action. This step will allow us to move forward with the environmental review process which will involve input from the public and interested agencies including village land use boards. Click here to read this week's full agenda .

I look forward to seeing you virtually, from six feet away, or with our faces covered!

With Regards,
Victoria Gearity, Ossining Mayor
Playgrounds are Open!
Yippee! Village playgrounds are now open. Please wash hands before and after using the play equipment, maintain social distance, and wear a mask.

One exception is Vets Park. That playground is undergoing some repairs. The whole of Vets Park is scheduled to open next week with Phase 4 when athletic fields are anticipated to be reopened.
