I'm back! I spent last week in Los Angeles promoting art and artists, including two Texas artists -- Jesse E. Rodriguez of Houston and Cande Aguilar of Brownsville -- at the second anniversary celebration of The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of the Riverside Art Museum (one of my day jobs!). It was such a great experience that I am thinking about organizing a group art travel tour this August or September -- would you be interested in going to Southern California and meeting gallerists, collectors, and artists? If so, let me know. I am developing what it would cost now to produce and schedule this type of event (a few years ago, I produced one for a group of 12 collectors from Houston!).

🎨 OPENING RECEPTION "Big, Hot & Sticky” 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at AIA Architecture Center Houston (902 Commerce St., Houston 77002). On view thru August 23, 2024 and curated by Dalia Munenzon and Maggie Tsang, this group exhibition features seven architects and artists who respond to Houston's built and natural environments.

🎨 ART EVENT "David Best: Houston Temple" 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Orange Show Center for Visionary Art (2334 Gulf Terminal Dr., Houston 77023). Weekly thru October 31, 2024, experience the beauty of this public artwork built in honor of those lost in Houston's creative community supported by weekly vigils, partner events, and individual tributes.

🎨 OPENING RECEPTION “Concentrique: Laura Bonnefous and Blandine Soulage” 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Koslov Larsen Gallery (4411 Montrose Blvd., Ste. C, Houston 77006). On view thru August 23, 2024 are photographs described as a poetic dance of color and movement by two artists in a global space.

🎨 CLOSING CELEBRATION + ARTIST TALKS “Life Perspectives & New Beginnings” 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Esperson Skyscraper (806 Rusk St., 6th Fl., Houston 77002). ELC Fine Art presents works by contemporary, emerging and mid-career artists.

🎨 OPENING RECEPTION "Jeffrey Becom: Painted Villages of Ecuador" 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Catherine Couturier Gallery (2635 Colquitt St., Houston 77098). On view thru August 17, 2024 are new works by the artist who approaches his art as a photographer and painter with formal training as an architect.

🎨 OPENING RECEPTION "Texas Creatives Summer Showcase" 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hooks-Epstein Galleries (2631 Colquitt St., Houston 77098). On view thru August 10, 2024 are works by 25 of the gallery’s Texas-based contemporary artists.

🎨 ART EVENT "Devotion Affection and Other Synonyms for Love" 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Front Gallery (1412 Bonnie Brae St., Houston 77006). On view thru July 6, 2024, this interactive multimedia installation includes this evening performance by Houston artists John Allen Stephens and Andres Soler based on their debut album with the same name. Doors open at 8:00 PM. Performance at 9:00 PM. Reception until 10:00 PM
