Spotlight on a Program: Masters of Social Work | | |
|
|
In this spotlight, we center on the Masters of Social Work (MSW). Professionals who graduate from CSU Pueblo's MSW program are prepared to assess, treat, secure resources for, monitor improvement, and advocate for people in our community. The MSW program prepares students for advanced social work practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and values for creating effective processes required to serve diverse client populations in systems of all sizes.
Graduates of the program are prepared to advocate for changes in policy and legislation to improve social conditions in order to meet basic human needs and promote social justice.
| | |
|
The program offers two entry options: (a) Specialized: Individuals can apply to the program upon completion of an accredited Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree; and (b) Generalist: Individuals can apply to the program upon completion of a social work-related undergraduate degree from an accredited institution.
The program recently welcomed Dr. Matthew Caywood to the role of Director. Dr. Caywood is an experienced advocate for students and comes to his role with extensive experience in Denver and El Paso counties. Dr. Caywood's goals for the program include partnering with the Department of Human Services, mental health centers, and schools across Colorado. He sees his role as advocating for the investment of the university in students through "mentorship, love, role modeling, in addition to celebrating their journey.” His advice to students in the MSW program is to “learn the culture and respect the people you serve.”
The Graduate School is proud to welcome Dr. Caywood to his role!

Have you heard about the new tool offered by the Library?
The CSU Pueblo Library recently introduced a new tool designed to allow graduate students to instantly connect to journal content provided by the library -- from anywhere!
LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that makes off-campus searching easier and works on publisher websites, PubMed, and even Wikipedia to connect you to scholarly resources. If CSU Pueblo Library does not have the full text, LibKey Nomad will link you to Findit@CSU Library Pueblo where you can make an InterLibrary Loan request.
