The PC(USA) Office of Public Witness in Washington, DC is offering monthly Zoom gatherings and other resources to share during this anxious days. This month’s advocacy hour will be on Wednesday, March 26th at 12:00 Noon and will focus on migration and immigration issues.

In addition to the fantastic speakers, we’re celebrating some amazing individuals:

  • Angela Sims (Ph.D.,’08) is President of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. She’ll be honored at dinner on Monday, May 5, with UPSem’s Distinguished Alum Award.
  • President Emeritus Brian Blount will receive the Black Alumni Association’s Trailblazer Award. You’ll get to enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner with Brian and his wife, Sharon, on Tuesday evening (May 6) hosted by the BAA.
  • Megan Argabrite (M.Div.’13), pastor of Amity PC(USA) in Charlotte, NC, will be honored as the Rising Star Alum. Amanda Montague will be recognized as the Unsung Staff Hero for her decades of service to the Seminary. These new awards will occur during Tuesday’s luncheon.

March 5 - April 20

Typically received during the season of Lent, each gift to One Great Hour of Sharing supports efforts to relieve hunger through the Presbyterian Hunger Program, promote development through the Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People, and assist in areas of disaster through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. All three programs work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in need. From initial disaster response to ongoing community development, their work fits together to provide people with safety, sustenance, and hope.

PRESBYTERIAN SCHOLARSHIP FOR UNDERGRADUATES 2025

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) provides scholarships to up to 100 college students per year. Eligible applicants will be PC(USA) church members seeking a first associates or bachelors’ degree, attending an accredited college or university in the United States full-time in 2025-2026. The basic scholarship award is $4,000, up to need, and if need remains after the scholarship is awarded, students may be considered for additional supplemental aid, including a $2,000 Supplemental award for People of Color. Deadline to apply is May 13th.

For Presbyterian Church (USA) members who are:

  • Enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university in the United States
  • Seeking a first associates or bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrate need after any merit or need-based aid awarded by the college/university.

HORIZONS BIBLE STUDY

During 2024-25, Presbyterian Women across the PCUSA have been delving into Scripture passages as they relate to Christians’ call to pray and work for environmental justice and healing. Throughout the year, the Rev. Lib McGregor Simmons has been offering a Zoom pre- study of the biblical material in the nine chapters of Let Justice Roll Down: God’s Call to Care for Neighbors and All Creation by Patricia Tull. The pre-study wraps up on Easter Sunday evening with Lesson 9:

2025 SUMMER INTERNSHIPS 

CROSS Missions, a ministry of Myers Park Presbyterian, is hiring for next summer. We're looking for young adults, college aged folkx who have a passion for Jesus and social justice. Experience working with teenagers is very helpful! It is a paid internship that includes housing on the campus of MPPC and most meals are covered.

All young adults who are at least one year out of high school are invited to apply. Available positions cover a wide range of skills and interests such as childhood education, hospitality, recreation, and more! All positions are paid and include the option to live on campus. Plus, certain positions may qualify for college credit. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable job experience and enjoy life in our close-knit mountain community.

MISSION TRIP TO SOUTH KOREA

The Presbyterian Peace Network for Korea (PPNK) is arranging a mission trip to South Korea from October 21 to October 30, 2025. The registration period has just begun and will continue through April 30.


This mission trip is open to Presbyterians and others who are interested in Korea and are concerned about the prospects for peace there and around the world. The participants taking part in this journey will be building connections with peacemakers in the Presbyterian and other churches and groups in South Korea. The journey is not primarily for Korean-Americans, but for people in your presbytery who want to promote peace.


PPNK is a mission network related to the PCUSA, whose primary mission is to educate and advocate for peace on the Korean peninsula. This trip intends to involve a broader group of Presbyterians in this mission.
