1.)   CDC “revises” Developmental Milestones
The CDC funded the American Academy of Pediatrics to convene an expert workgroup to revise its developmental surveillance checklists, identify evidence-informed milestones, clarify when most children can be expected to reach a milestone (to discourage a wait-and-see approach), and support clinical judgment regarding screening between recommended ages. This year, new checklist ages were added for 15 months and 30 months.

They are labeling skills such as taking a first step, smiling for the first time, and waving “bye-bye,” developmental milestones.

Check out the Digital Milestone Checklists for ages two months to 5 years. Or download the new Milestone Tracker app for your phone.

2.)   Math and Literacy Programming Google Doc sent to your email
Last week I sent you an individual email with the link to the Math and Literacy Programming Google Document. The google sheet has the following tabs: Share 1 idea about how you bring Math into your classroom, Share 1 idea about how you bring Literacy into your classroom, a Literary List to share some of your favorite books in your classroom. Thank you for taking a few minutes to fill out the tabs by the end of the week!

3.)   Preschool Finder info sent to your email
Last week I sent you an individual email with your program’s information on the Preschool Finder tool on Archdiocese school’s website. If you have not responded to me with any changes or to let me know that everything looks good please do so by the end of the week! I really appreciate it!

4.)   Licensed ONLY: Background Checks
Please make sure to review yours and all of your staff’s background check dates to make sure they are current going into next school year. As a reminder background checks are good for three years, so if they are going to expire in the next couple of months please have them start their new background check application in MERIT now. Having a current background check is a requirement for someone to work in a licensed program. Please reach out to me if you have questions.

Thank you and have a great week!
