It’s an honor to serve as President of CoCEAL. This coalition has a long, meaningful history in Colorado, supporting Latino faculty, staff, and students through the many ups and downs of higher education. I’m humbled to be part of such a respected group with a strong presence across the state.
As we face an uncertain federal landscape and growing resistance to equity-focused work, I believe this is when our coalition is most needed. Colorado remains a state that values education, and we have a unique opportunity to lean on each other during challenging times.
Now more than ever, we must unite and leverage our collective resources to ensure students succeed, graduate, and achieve the socioeconomic mobility they and their families deserve. One of my priorities is strengthening collaboration across colleges and universities. For instance, the Colorado Department of Higher Education’s partnership with Complete College America offers free resources and consultation to every campus—support we can’t afford to overlook in times of limited funding.
I look forward to connecting with you all and growing CoCEAL into an even stronger, more unified force—one that positions Colorado as a national leader in Latino student success. As someone born, raised, and educated here, my heart is deeply rooted in this work and in the students we serve. I’m grateful for the chance to support you and help build a stronger educational foundation for all Colorado students.
