Prayer of the Week

The Dome

Across the dome of deepening blue

Enrobed in heaven's flowing air

Arise ye stately measured lights

Swing ye silver censer moon

Begin ye mysteries of night

Who bow in self-forgetfulness

Exult in silent burning joy

Praise the uncreated light

Your silent song I cannot hear

Though long your priestly dance observed

Yet deep to deep it speaks to me

An echo of the living word

One night the clay shall leave my ears

One night this earthen vessel break

And I shall join with burning joy

His praise in thy unending song

—Jeff Wilkinson

We used this song as the Psalm at church last Sunday. Here is Wilkinson's version and a very different version from Richard Shindell.

Other Events and Opportunities

COMPASS: Spiritual Direction for Discernment

  • Are you at a turning point in your education or career?
  • Are you trying to listen for God’s voice, but not sure how to tell what God is saying?

Join COMPASS, a discernment journey over the course of the academic year. Facilitated by Brent House’s chaplain, the Rev. Stacy Alan, the COMPASS group will meet once monthly to explore identity, vocation, and where God is calling each of us. Through discussion, reflection, Bible study, and prayer, you will discover your own gifts and find ways to use them in service to the world.

Interested? Contact Stacy by October 15 at StacyAlan@brenthouse.org.

Retreat with Monks!

Friday, November 6 - Sunday, November 8, 2026 - St. Paul's, Flint

We will join together with the brothers of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist, an Episcopal religious order, to pray, learn, and reflect on the practice of intercessory prayer and how it might move us toward radical hospitality, empathy, and solidarity.

Cost: $50 Registration Fee. Food & lodging are covered.

Registration Link: Province V 2026 Young Adult Ministry Retreat

Please let me know if you plan to attend. I will be going, so can provide transportation there and back. If cost is an issue, please let me know. We don’t want cost to be a barrier.
