And so, as my ‘staycation’ of 14 days begins to end, and as today is the 7th of September I chose to look at my calendar and lo and behold I have to finish and upload this newsletter by the 25th of September as I leave for Fort McMurray on the 26th and only come home on the 30th. My newsletter needs to hit everyone’s mailboxes by 8am on the 30th 😊 I will just be getting up at my hotel and packing the van around then and possible later.
So far my days off, if you can call them that LOL have consisted of another type of work. MY HOME!! But let’s start with where I left off. My lunch with my vendor buddy Shannon was awesome. We went to Benaras on Whyte. I love friends who respect that I am vegan and cannot eat their food, but they can eat mine and without an issue agree on a vegan restaurant. I truly enjoyed the lunch with her.
Then the next day my son took me out to eat at Watari’s on 124th street that offers vegan and food for my son. 😊 I had not seen him since the shows started so we caught on chitchat and enjoyed the supper. Then my grandson and I, the following week, went down to Earls for a mid day lunch type eating. Happy hour was on, so we always take advantage of the drop in prices. Also caught up on his doings and then dropped him back at home where my daughter-in-law was sitting outside. She jumped into my van and caught me up on all her doings 😊 Now the family news is all done, and as I always say by early September, I am ‘peopled’ out LOL. With all the shows almost back-to-back I see tons of folks and talk all day, sometimes for 12 hours straight!!! So, I now enjoy my alone time with glee.
Netflix: I finished up Love is Blind UK. A bit hard to understand some of their accents and honestly by Episode three I fast forwarded to see who got married and who was left at the altar. I highly doubt I will watch any other Love is Blind creations! Pretty boring. Then I watched The Union and unlike the posts on it I found that Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry had NO chemistry at all. I thought Wahlberg did an excellent job of trying to connect but her acting back?? NO, not a drop of chemistry. They should have had another female actress play that part. I gave it a 6 out of 10 because of Wahlberg’s acting only. Then I watched Hit Man that I enjoyed and gave an 8 out of 10 for that movie. THEN!!!!! I discovered House of Cards with Kevin Spacey. Now no doubt many have watched it, but I had not. The first few episodes I was unsure if I wanted to remain watching but then it picked up. So, since we have SIX seasons with about 15 episodes per season to watch I can assure you that I will still be watching this till the end of September. I am now just starting Episode Two and enjoying it 😊
HOME?? I already know that as fall approaches the garden has to be weeded, trees need to be pruned and stuff I grew taken in. Apples?? Let’s just say I am competing with them and the wasps. I do not mind nature. Wasps are part of nature but their eating habits??? Hmmmm! Leaves a lot to be desired as they nibble on ONE apple at a time. Do not finish it and move onto the next. Do they choose the apples that fall to the ground? NO!!!! they fly from apple to apple on the tree and leave them bitten, bruised and turning brown. So, as I battle the wasps LOL I only have two gallons of apple juice so far in my freezer. Last year I had about 12-14 gallons. So be it. It is nature.
Corn is still growing and based upon the fact I had never grown it before I am not sure when to harvest but I tell YA 😊 there is no doubt I have about 10 cobs on the four stalks that grew wonderfully. Next year I will plant way more now I know 😊 Green beans had tons on the stalks and mainly I ate them raw. Peas had been picked earlier in the season. Little disappointed in the fact I did not get as much as I hope. Cucumbers are massive and I have juiced them with my apples and frozen some and drank some. Asparagus was picked and eaten as it grew, as was the kale. The kale however I made into kale chips YUM 😊 it has grown over four times once picked. Next year I plan to plant a ton as I LOVE kale.
Strawberries did not even take. Nothing grew from the roots that I planted. So sad about that but maybe they needed more room as the rhubarb came up and just keeps growing. Again, a ton of rhubarb was cooked and eaten. Broccoli has barely shown any growth in the center and since this is twice I have tried this vegetable I will pass on it next year. And lastly my baby tomatoes? Where in past years I have had tons of sweet round red mini tomatoes the plants this year have mainly stayed in the flowering stage with maybe 20 green tomatoes on the stalks, but not one red. So sad. Not sure if this has anything to do with the wasps and the bees not pollinating?? Or the bee population being killed off by all these pesticides that people use. Keep that up and we will have no food to eat one day.
And my trip to the dentist that was covered for my exam by the new dental coverage?? OK so that was covered but guess what? NOTHING I need done is covered!! LOL and the NDP making such a big deal about how they got this passed. I wish the NDP lovers would wake up and realise they are all talk. So, I now will wait till November and see if anything more gets added so I can get the crown work done on my back tooth. The cost of the work out of pocket is over $5000.
Next I drove down to Tail Blazers and stocked up for about 2-3 months of raw food for my loving China. [for new readers she is my 20-year-old ragdoll] How is my baby China? She is fine but appears to really be slowing down now. I think she has a wee bit of dementia as she yells a lot until I find her and pick her up and bring her to where I am. Plus she sleeps most of the day now. She still likes to walk outside and sit with me on the patio. Whereas she used to like sitting in the sun she now moves into the shade. I am hoping for at least 2-3 more years with her, but we will see 😊
Then I filled up with gas at 127.9 that I luckily found while driving to the pet store 😊 I also stocked up on stamps as I had a lot of orders over the summertime from my webstore that luckily I was able to fill before the shows started as I had postage. I ran out just as the shows ended 😊 Now I am stocked up again for winter.
Now talking about stocking up!!! My insurance for my vehicle and home renews every September. Last month I got the renewals, and my broker, who always calls me, called me once again to see if I wish to change anything. Well, lo and behold when she got to my vehicle she says, ‘so you got one speeding ticket this year, so your good driving deductions was taken off’ WHAT?????? One fricken’ ticket that was only $126 and that means I was about 10 KM over the speed limit. Yes, I was not paying attention, yes I was on a steep hill, yes I was talking to a friend while heading to a sound bath event, and yes I did not see the cop behind the tree. BUT??? I have not had a speeding ticket in at least [and maybe more] six years. ONE fricken’ ticket and I get three years of higher rates. YUP three years!! So, guess what??? Nothing pisses me off more than unfairness or at least what I see as unfairness. So, my mind got to thinking. LOL. I don't really need my vehicle from mid December to mid April. What would I save if I put my vehicle in my garage and took off liability. So, I called. I did not get the brightest broker as she would not even give me a ballpark figure but said that the vehicle had to be covered for fire and theft and that was $131 for the year. Fine I said. But what if it sits in my garage? Would it not be covered for fire? DIG THIS!!! No, the vehicle would not be covered if the garage caught fire BUT!!!! The rest of the contents would as they are covered by my home policy LOL! Makes no sense, but that is what I would have to cover. So, then I say well what are we dropping? The liability she says. So, I say how much is that? Roughly was around $3600 for the year. So, I do the math LOL. I say well 4 months of is $900. Would that not make the amount of what I would save. Now she agrees!! I cannot fathom why that math was so hard for her to figure out. SO!!!! I am now going to shut my insurance down in mid December and save the $900. YUP!! That will teach my insurance LOL. And if I find it easy to do this I will do it every year. I cannot believe I had not thought of this before. My insurance allows for month to month only, so I have to call in each month to continue the cancellation, and if and when I need to put it back on the road I only have to call, and it is put back on right away. BUT 😊 to compliment my broker who was not the one I spoke to; they answer the phone. When I call a real live person picks up. And they call every year to make sure I am happy with my renewals 😊
And that folks is why I will stock up in December on all household goods and use Instacart to deliver my fresh veggies. I am going completely raw next year food wise so with the $9.99 membership per month for Instacart I can have free deliveries each day if I wish. And as my granddaughter says, ‘grandma if you get bored at home all you have to do is go into a different room’ LOL. She is right as I have each room for different activities 😊
AND!! Moving to today the FIRST day of Fall 😊 I worked on the rest of the newsletter during the month and now have decided on this fine Sunday [22nd September] to finish Chat and get the newsletter all up and ready to go out as I have a VERY busy week ahead and leave on Thursday. [26th] I will start Novembers newsletter from this date next month 😊 I hope that was not too complicated LOL.
NETFLIX: House of Cards is almost done. I have two more episodes in Season Six and then will move onto something different. I thoroughly enjoyed this show. Loved Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright but especially Michael Kelly and their acting.
Went to the hairdressers and got my hair washed, trimmed and set. LOVE my hairdresser. So glad I switched to this awesome place. [Tommie’s on 142nd street] PLUS!! I bought my first stocking gift for one stocking for Xmas. Yes, I start buying now so I do not have to traipse around the crowded stores in December 😊 I am normally done all my shopping by the end of November.
In a nutshell I picked as many of the apples off the tree as I could reach with my ladder and made as much apple juice as I could. I mowed the lawn, picked TONS and TONS of green beans and ate them every day. Weeded some more, cleaned my deck, brought my Vitamix composter indoors as the nights are too cold for it to work properly. BUT 😊 best yet I had clients every day except for the two days I have taken off. One of them to go and upgrade my shoe inserts. They will be ready for me on October 12th. And if anyone does not think that shoe inserts do not work you are mistaken 😊 If your hips are even a ¼ of an inch off balance your body will not work correctly for balance. Shoe inserts are AMAZING!!
Next my second day off is today. My granddaughter is in town and finally we are doing her birthday dinner tonight with her fiancé who also joined her this weekend.
Some new clients and some old this month but as the festivals end I am always busy in September and October. I expect this and enjoy it 😊 I had one cancellation BUT!!! As I was meditating I said to whoever hears me LOL “can you fill the cancellation spot” and I heard back “we will try today but if not today for sure by tomorrow” [the person had cancelled the Monday appointment on the Thursday] and lo and behold 3 hours later the phone rang asking for my ‘package one with a clearing.’ I said to the person “I have just had a Monday cancellation; would Monday be good for you?” she sounded delighted and took the spot 😊 That folks is how the Universe works when you are doing your CORRECT calling here on planet Earth. Life comes to you; you only have to do the work as it arrives 😊
I called my AWESOME irrigation guy to come and blow out the lines and close the system. He had an opening the next day or I could book October. I chose the next day and as usual he showed up on time and did a wonderful job. By the way he also answers his phone promptly which is always a gift I find nowadays 😊
LASTLY [ I promise LOL] Groceries that came $204.74 was a lot lower than the previous month :) I will not post all of the items as I have written enough for you to read this month!
Business additions? YES!! I use a very high tech machine to record, burn the CD's on the spot and record SD cards. They are quite expensive and every so often I look for another on ebay. This month to my GREAT delight I found a brand new one for $300 YUP $300. They are normally over $1000. I now have one that works at all levels as my one I have right now started to be VERY fussy about the CD's it would record on! The cat also, for some strange reason, chewed on my Aura machine wires PLUS the printer wires. I had to replace both types of wiring and thank goodness I was able to find the DB25 and printer wire and reconnect and all is working PERFECTLY now.
I see this as my Personal Year Six [ my season six] the BALANCE Year as preparing everything so that next year goes swellingly LOL.
And that about wraps up Chat. I am booked every day this upcoming week and then as I mentioned, leave for Fort McMurray with my darling China. 😊 She loves to travel. She sits in her chair or on my lap and watches out the window. Funnily enough she stays awake for most of the 4-hour drive. I am staying at a hotel I have not stayed in before so this will determine if I go back to the one on the highway in December [as I am doing the Xmas show as well] OR stay with the new one I am trying out. I am just trying to find a quiet hotel LOL.
Enjoy the beginning of Fall. This is when we start to think about hunkering down, close our gardens, start to enjoy the making of our winter foods and so much more. However here in Edmonton [Alberta] seems we have a nice late summer arriving as the weather person is calling for 27C later this week. I plan to enjoy it sitting on my patio with my last Vince Flynn book. Then I have to look at ordering my winter books.
Know that 30 minutes day [no more is needed] if you sit and offer your soul energy a connection using meditation that life comes to you. Having appreciation for all that arrives ensures much more will follow. Seeing what clearly gives difficulty when it arrives is simply the Universe saying, ‘you asked to be enlightened so first get over this hurdle, it is your lesson’. Most lessons need to be eradicated before the next move shows up . Trust me on this 😊
Positive Thoughts To All till next month 😊
