FIELD NOTES

Influencer Marketing Expands Beyond Key Opinion Leaders

Traditionally, life science marketing teams have spent time determining who the Key Opinion Leaders or KOLs are in the field in which their products are used. For example, you'd look for the top scientists in cell and gene therapy if your company is selling products in that area.

Recently, however we saw that Thermo Fisher Scientific's Aspire Member Program has a brand partnership with Instragram/TikTok user drdre4000, Dr. AndrΓ© Isaacs, Associate Professor of Chemistry at the College of the Holy Cross. Dr. Isaacs is known for his cheerful and inspiring videos which often involve dancing.

Thermo Fisher Scientific partnered with Dr. Isaacs to promote their Aspire Member Program, featuring an unboxing of their "Take a Break Box." This partnership transcends the traditional KOL relationship as it appeals to life scientists regardless of their research area.

Is your brand working with or considering working with a social media influencer? What do you think of this strategy? Let us know by sending us an email.
