And just like that, the first two weeks of November have come and gone. Although Thanksgiving has yet to arrive, I've already seen Christmas decorations appear not only in stores, but also in some people's homes. If that happens to be you, I say GO FOR IT - with all that 2020 has placed at our feet, I'm all for it. (But, if you know me, you'd probably be shocked...I'm a "let's take one holiday at a time" kinda girl most of the time.). I look forward to all of the lights and decorations that continue to go up through the next few weeks.

This Sunday, as we continue with our 2021 Stewardship Sermon Series ZOOMing into the Future!, we will hear from Rev. Dr. Gray Clark - long-time pastor of Fellowship Presbyterian Church. Like with Rev. John Hartman last week, Rev. Dr. Clark will share reflections on the way God was at work during his 30-year pastorate. During this Sunday's worship service, we will also welcome in the NINE new members that the session met with this past week. I'm excited - and hope you are too.

Immediately following the worship service will be our next installment of Fellowship's Racial Equity Conversation. If you are interested in joining me and others to share thoughts and ideas about this important topic, please plan to join us.

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Blessings,
Pastor Kathryn

p.s. You should have received a letter from the Stewardship and Finance Committee about this Stewardship season. It continues to be my prayer that you will also pray about your contributions of time, talent, and treasure as we ZOOM into this next year.

Racial Equity Monthly Conversation
Gather immediately after worship Sunday, November 15, at 10:30, for an hour of conversation around the topic of Racial Equity. In this series of Zoom meetings, we will seek to understand others and ourselves as part of God's plan for unity with God and all of God’s people. Each month, spend some time reading, listening to, or watching stories about the present-day struggles of those from different racial and ethnic backgrounds. You can’t fail this class. There's no test; no right or wrong answers. You choose your homework and then join in the discussion. As you better understand how the Holy Spirit is working in your words, thoughts, and interactions, you will have support as you navigate your next steps.
The meeting info is: 880 8841 8255; Passcode: 517024. Click here.
Stewardship Celebration
Next Sunday, November 22, is Stewardship/Consecration Sunday; a day when we give thanks for the gifts that God has given and pledge to give some of them to the church so it may further its missions and ministries. If you haven’t already turned in that pledge, you may mail it in or plan to drop it off next Sunday between 4-5 pm at the church.
The Stewardship and Finance Committee, and Session, thank you for your support in advance.
Advent Boxes
While you’re dropping off your stewardship pledge (or if you’ve already done so), please stop by the church between 4-5 pm next Sunday, November 22, to pick up each household’s Advent box. This box, assembled with assistance from the Worship and Outreach Committees, will include all you need as a (Fellowship) family to celebrate the Advent season. This box is intended for all ages and for each household of the Fellowship Family. If you are unable to collect your box, it will be delivered to you by the first Sunday in Advent (November 29).

Roof work begins on Monday. Crews will work to re-shingle the sanctuary and make other roof improvements beginning November 9th. A majority of the cost is covered by insurance. The church will spend approximately $11,000.00 to cover costs remaining. Building funds are on hand to cover our cost, but your gift to replenish the fund would be greatly welcomed.

Women's Bible Study Update

Fellowship’s Women’s Bible Study, Unshakable Hope, by Max Lucado wraps up its first half of the series this Tuesday, November 17, via Zoom. The second half of the study will resume after the holiday season and the turn of the calendar into the new year. Each participant is encouraged to purchase her own study guide ($7.55) AND book ($12.56) for this series. All women are invited; if interested, please contact Mimi Carter.
This year as in the past, Fellowship will be providing a Thanksgiving feast for 10 refugee families in Greensboro. In order to welcome these new residents of Greensboro we will deliver food items that are both traditional American Thanksgiving foods as well as foods they are most familiar with.

The items listed below may be donated before this Friday, November 20:
Jasmine rice
Potatoes
Onions
Vegetable Oil
Garlic
Because much of what is needed requires purchase just prior to delivery, you may also provide monetary donations so the Mission Committee can make those purchases like turkeys, fresh fruit, and other vegetables. Please label your contributions "Thanksgiving Feast." Thank you!
SUPPORT UKIRK GREENSBORO WHILE YOU SHOP!

If you shop at Belk Department stores, know someone who does, or shop different stores for the best deals, then this is for you! UKirk Greensboro, a friend of this congregation, is again having a charity sale next weekend (November 13-15). UKirk Greensboro is selling tickets and would appreciate your support.

If you donate at least $5 to UKirk Greensboro through the Belk link, you will receive a $10 coupon to shop the sale with *limited exclusions*, which is huge for Belk. To select UKirk Greensboro use this link to select: NC > Greensboro > UKirk Greensboro. By doing such, you insure the $ goes to the ministry. PLEASE NOTE: the coupons are good at ANY Belk location nationwide and online.

UKirk Greensboro thanks you!
Chef Traci Rankins, the newest member of our Fellowship Family, is a world-class chef. She is selling scratch-made pumpkin pies for this fall season in time for Thanksgiving. Each 9-inch pie is $25 plus tax and will be delivered on Saturdays in November and on Wednesday, November 25th, in time for Thanksgiving. Please call or email Traci directly at (336)337-8682 or email her.

Traci is donating 10% of all of sales directly to the church!
Creative Hearts & Hands is having a special holiday fundraiser. Holiday-themed facemasks with filters and a wire nose-bridge will be available from Nora Burleson for $5 each. Proceeds will go to the Creative Hearts & Hands Fund. Please call Nora at (336)375-5518 to order your masks. Pick up and payment will be through the church office.

Masks make great stocking stuffers for 2020!
Worship and Building Use Update – October 27, 2020

Part 1: Worship
With the Fellowship Family's health in mind, in conjunction with the CDC, World Health Organization, and Gov. Roy Cooper's office, the Session decided that virtual worship will continue through the current streaming platforms through at least the month of December - Session will reevaluate at its December meeting and make its decision on a month-to-month basis. Not only will worship continue to be available through Facebook Live, but will also be streaming through Zoom, should members of the Fellowship Family want to see each other.

Part 2: Building Usage
As of September 28th, the church will allow approved meetings with groups of 25 or less, with the following requirements:
  • Everyone who comes into the building MUST wear a mask
  • Each meeting must be approved by the church office.
  • The meeting room and restrooms are the only areas that are available. It is recommended that one person utilize the restroom at a time
  • Each meeting must have a host, who is responsible for:
  • Preparing the room
  • Asking all attendees the following health questions, which must each be answered in the negative:
  • Have you been around anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19?
  • Do you have a fever or felt feverish in the past 14-21 days?
  • Do you have shortness of breath or other difficulty breathing?
  • Do you have a cough?
  • Are you suffering from other flu-like symptoms such as gastrointestinal upset, headache or fatigue?
  • Have you experienced a recent loss of taste or smell?
  • Have you traveled to any regions affected by COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
  • Taking attendees’ temperature (touchless thermometer is available at the front door with the check-in sheet)
  • All attendees will complete a sign-in sheet which will be kept in a notebook on the welcome kiosk outside the Day School Office.
  • Explaining the requirements of attendance.
  • Cleaning the room after the meeting (cleaning supplies available in the meeting rooms)
  • Hosts will need to inform attendees that they may bring their own bottled drinks, but they must take the container home with them. No food or drink may be provided.
  • The staff of FPC continue to work hard in the office. Should you need to come to the office to speak with any of them, please plan to abide by the same guidelines as for groups, including wearing a mask and signing in at the kiosk outside of the Day School's office door.
Should you have any questions regarding the session's decision, please contact Julie Davis, Clerk of Session, or Pastor Kathryn.
