And just like that, it's already April!

We may have the first quarter of 2022 already behind us, but the year still has much to offer and we're looking forward to sharing milestones and news along the way.

Longwood just celebrated their one-year anniversary, and it seems like only yesterday when they opened. Time flies, so when the April showers bring the May flowers, let's don't forget to stop and smell them.

I wish you each a great month and a very HAPPY EASTER!

CLERMONT CELEBRATES SIX YEARS!

Happy Anniversary to our Clermont team. This veteran group of community bankers has been exemplifying true community partnership for six years on April 11th.
Congratulations, Team Clermont and we look forward to another 60 years from you (no pressure!).
Director Spotlight
Frank DeMarsh

A resident of DeLand since 1976, and a Stetson University graduate, Frank DeMarsh is one of Mainstreet Community Bank's founding directors.

However, banking isn't what brought the DeMarshes to Florida. Their eyes have always been on the "big screen".
The DeMarsh family owned a robust theatre business in Grove City, Pennsylvania, where Frank and his nine siblings grew up learning - and eventually working in - the family business. Years later, Frank and his brother, Clint, started Theatre Management Inc. and grew their company to include 60 screens with locations in multiple states. Today, Frank and Clint are partners in the ultra successful EPIC Theatres which includes 138 screens in Florida and North Carolina.

All of these successes have not been lost on the bigger picture: Family.

Frank's sons, Weegie, and Joe, now work in the business, as well as sister, Edie, who serves as CFO. His daughter, Jamie, worked with in the business as well for a number of years. This is a family who has not just grown together, but stayed together in friendship and business. Although the pandemic had a significant impact on the theatre industry, anyone with nine brothers and sisters knows the value of resiliency. And resilient they are. As people are returning to business and social activities, the theatres are bouncing back. The industry is releasing new products and Frank expects EPIC to continue experiencing the same, or even greater, success. Coincidentally or not, EPIC has theatres in many of Mainstreet's current markets of DeLand, Orange City, Deltona, Clermont, and Ocala.

It's because of this resiliency and business savvy that Frank has been instrumental in helping guide Mainstreet Community Bank to continued growth. As CEO Ben Flowers states, "I have known Frank and his brother, Clint, for over 40 years. I went to school with his two youngest siblings, and my sister was best friends with Edie. We considered ourselves family back then, and we certainly consider Frank as part of the Mainstreet family today. The DeMarshes' success is based on the values that have guided Mainstreet for nearly twenty years."

Frank and his wife, Laurel, also have continued the tradition of a big family. They have eight grandchildren who they enjoy spending time with at their lake house or traveling the open roads in their RV.

Although Frank has spent his entire career in the movie industry, he has preferred to operate behind the scenes. However, we couldn't think of a bigger star to feature for this quarter's Director Spotlight. Thank you for all you do for Team Mainstreet!

While Jenn and Nicole aren't giving up their day jobs here at Mainstreet Community Bank, they are taking on some serious duties as dedicated community leaders by learning first-hand how much our public servants do every day in our communities.

These ladies recently participated in the DeLand Police Department's Citizen Police Academy, a six-week course that exposes the participants to the realities of police work. The program provides behind-the-scenes training about how the law is applied, investigative techniques, criminal and drug investigative processes, patrol operations, firearm safety, victim advocacy, K-9 actions, defense tactics, and much more. The program is led by DeLand Police officers and provides a working knowledge of law enforcement operations as a way to build stronger communities through education and partnership with its citizens.

The class ran from February 10 through March 24, and Jenn and Nicole just graduated with flying colors. Knowledge is power, so these two ladies will be powerful representations of community partners.
Way to go, Jenn and Nicole!

FORE CHARITY!
Community is literally our middle name, so any chance Team Mainstreet has to support a community event, we're all in. Scott and Ronnie represented very well this past weekend at the 21st Annual Mark's Floors Golf Tournament in Clermont to benefit South Lake High School Golf. We're not sure if they took home the first-place trophy, but they're still number one in our book.
