MAYOR'S UPDATE
From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin
What's New This Week
Snow ... and more snow. A Village with more than 26,000 residents on 3.2 square miles, mostly of steep hills, can be a challenge to manage during multiple snowstorms. I want to thank our Public Works staff, Police, and Fire Department for working diligently to clear the roads so that our residents and businesses can continue with their everyday lives.

Please contact the Village Board (BOT@villageofossining.org), the Village Manager’s office (villagemanger@villageofossining.org), or the Police Department (+1 914-941-4099) if you or someone in your family is having problems during this time.
The Trustees and I spent Saturday morning on Zoom participating in the first of three public engagements regarding the Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative. I encourage everyone in our community to read the proposed Plan posted on our site and participate in the public engagement. If public meetings are not your thing, you can also read the proposed Plan submitted to the Board and comment by emailing the Board of Trustees at bot@villageofossining.org.
You can find the proposed Plan by the Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative Working Committee here.
The next session is scheduled for Saturday, February 20, at 10 AM via Zoom. Information regarding these meetings can be found here.
This past Saturday, Town Supervisor Dana Levenberg and I visited Bethany Arts Center to tour the Black History Month exhibit, which Village Historian Joyce Sharrock Cole curated. This exhibit is truly a tribute to our black community's history and their contributions to Ossining.

Upcoming Black History Month Programs:
What’s in front of the Board
BFJ Planning will join the Board for a briefing on the Comprehensive Plan and the Draft GEIS. The Comprehensive Plan is another very important work recently completed by a Steering Committee, staff, and consultants to help us rethink how the Village should look in the future. Please tune in via zoom to this week’s Work Session to learn more.
Information regarding the Comprehensive Plan can be found here: https://www.ossiningtomorrow.com
Also in front of the Board is a request by Trustee Fritsche for discussion of the Ossining Fire Department’s Venture Crew, which currently runs through the Boy Scouts of America. This is a potential mentoring program for the Fire Department, and we are looking forward to hearing more about how the Village may play a role.
