Friday, September 4  •  5:00–7:00 p.m.
Quality, 110 N. Neil St., Champaign

Start the month with snacks, colleagues, and conversation. First Fridays is a relaxed way to meet faculty from across campus and talk about what we can build together through CFA. Bring a colleague—especially a new faculty member or someone who is curious about the union.

Last Thursday, more than 50 faculty members and their families gathered at the University YMCA to welcome the new semester, share tacos, and learn about CFA’s unionization campaign.

That gathering showed what organizing looks like: relationships, conversation, and shared purpose. Every invitation helps another colleague see themselves in the union we are building together.

New faculty in your department? A faculty friend who hasn’t signed a union card?

Building on the energy of last week’s kickoff, we’re asking every member to personally invite one faculty colleague to join us at Quality this Friday. Text them today and make a plan to arrive together.

Congratulations to workers at our local independent bookstore-cafe, The Literary, who voted 13–4 on August 27 to join the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). The new union is organizing for living wages, consistent scheduling, workplace safety, and a real voice at work.

Check out the CFA calendar to find out how you can get more involved in the union. ROCs (Regional Organizing Committees) are meeting weekly and organizing all over campus. Join yours to help build a strong union.
