Please Read! Time Sensitive

Oregon State Parks submitted a small maintenance grant application to the Oregon State Marine Board to repair the gangway at Hadley's in the amount of $18,750. OSMB is accepting public comments until March 17th. You can email them here: boating.facilities@boat.oregon.gov and let them know you support this grant. If you'd like to review the submitted application, you can do so here. Personalized responses carry a much higher weight than copy and paste efforts so please, make it personal.

As a reminder, CRYA and Daughters of Neptune are participating in this grant match in the amount of $3,125.

Thank You for taking the time to help maintain

our boating community assets!

This Article goes through the history of traditional Pyrotechnic Flares in favor of the new Coast Guard Approved Electronic Signaling Devices.

A great read and a call to all boaters that using the new Electronic Signaling Devices are safer and an excellent option for signaling for assistance but still require other devices to be compliant. Read more

Opening Day - May 2nd - "Spring into Boating"

This year the parade will complete the route in front of the Vancouver Waterfront as we did last year. We are going to need to get all of the Club/Organizations Fleet Captains information so that we can make sure everyone has the information that they need. We will be getting our 2026 poster/flyer ready soon for distribution and advertising of the event.

There will be a Captains Meeting via Zoom

scheduled for April 7th.

More information to follow. We are getting things posted to the website as we get them completed but please let us know if you need something.

Our Judging Committee is set. Our Opening Day Parade Marshal will be Kat Pettersen of TYEE Yacht Club. She was instrumental in helping to get our first Vancouver Waterfront Parade created.

We are looking for dignitaries to join us on one of the review boats or in the parade. Please talk with your club delegate or email us at Info@crya.us if you know of someone that should be invited to experience Opening Day so we can include them.

Updates From Your CRYA Dock Committee

As noted in the Opening Statement above, things are moving nicely on the Hadley's Landing repairs. Once the grant is approved it appears to be a 3- or 4-month window for the contractor to schedule in and complete the repairs. We can all agree it will be great to have Hadley's Landing back to a useable and secure place to cruise!

Our next effort is to get some kind of timeline update on Schwitter Docks. We have asked for updates a couple of times with no response. Our Docks Committee has an in-person meeting coming up in April so that will no doubt be our main focus of the meeting. We need to see Schwitter Docks repaired and completed so that it doesn't fail again!

The docks committee is chaired by Katie Schenk who is also the NOTS Commodore for 2026. If you run into her while out boating or in passing, PLEASE let her know how much we all care about her efforts as she is doing a great job.

Please Share your boating Stories of Interest to our team to Share with others. Club things, Community Boating Things, Personal Boating Stories. Many things are of interest so Please Share!

We can't see every club's internal communication, but we have to think some of the articles would be great information for all boaters. If you find that article of interest, please forward it to cryanews@gmail.com after getting approval to share. We can all be more informed.
