Center Springs and Antioch Methodist Churches

Sunday Service Times:

Antioch: Worship 9:00 am Sunday School 10:00 am

Center Springs: Sunday School: 9:45 am Worship: 10:45 am

Note from the Pastor:

Somehow, my Facebook feed has become inundated with religious organizations or denominations posting about why their denomination is the "one true" Christian denomination while others are false. The argument is that any disagreement with their theological viewpoint is wrong and either not a Christian denomination or less Christian of a denomination. One argument is that any disagreement with that particular denomination is unbiblical, because there were no denominations in the Bible. Interestingly, Paul, James, John, and Peter often had disagreements regarding how to deal with Gentiles becoming Christians. Essentially, they had theological differences about their faith in practice. Doesn't that sound a bit like what we would call denominational differences? The fact is that there will always be differences in doctrinal theology, because we do not read the Bible robotically. We each read scripture in conjunction with our own life experiences, and those experiences influence our understanding of scripture. In Paul's letters to both Timothy and Titus, he warns against such foolish arguments. Yes, we will have differences in our theologies. However, if we can keep our focus on what we have in common, especially the truth of the Gospel of Christ, we can win more people to the Kingdom. I pray that we discuss our differences in a friendly manner while using our similar thoughts to boldly share Jesus with the world.

Pizza, Prayer, and Pondering

Pizza, Prayer, and Pondering has moved to second Sundays for the foreseeable future. We are having some really good and very deep theological discussions. Please join us for our next gathering on Sunday, October 11 at 5:30pm with an appetite for food and a better understanding of the Bible. Here's what you need to do prior to that Sunday:

  1. Study your Bible and write down questions that come to your mind as you study.
  2. Invite friends, acquaintances, or complete strangers to join you.
  3. RSVP, so Pastor Chris will know how much food to order.
  4. Show up, eat, ask your questions, and come ready to fellowship and learn.

Ladies Brunch

Ladies, you are invited to a Saturday brunch at Center Springs Church. The brunch will be catered, so there is no need to bring anything except yourself and your appetite. This is a great opportunity to relax and fellowship with fellow women of faith.

September 26 at 10:30 AM

Registration for this event is closed.

Sheriff Puckett's Pals:

Quite often sheriff's deputies are called to situations that involve small children. We are collecting stuffed animals to donate to the sheriff's department, so these deputies have something to help break the ice between them and the children they try to comfort and protect.

Ladies' Luncheon

The Ladies' Birthday Luncheon for October will be on Monday, October 5 at 11:30 at Oh Bryan's in Hartselle.

Wednesday Bible Study:

Bible Study continues this week! Come join us as we look at lives and ministries of the apostles in the book of Acts. This week, both groups will be on chapter 14.

Bible Study times this week are as follows:

Wednesdays 10:30 am at Antioch Methodist Church

Wednesdays 6:00 pm at Center Springs Church

Youth Bible Study:

Wednesdays 6:00 pm at Center Springs with music, activities, and a study on the twelve disciples.

Movie Night

Due to so many people being out of town, those who showed agreed to postpone movie night for a few weeks. We will look at having our next movie night on Sunday, September 27, and the plan is still to watch the movie "Woodlawn". As always, refreshments will be provided, and everyone is encouraged to bring some snacks of their own to share.

If you have any items you would like to donate, please put them in the unused Sunday School room at Center Springs Church. Please do not put any items in the family life center or the nursery as those two areas will be utilized over the next several weeks.

If you have a smart phone, you can download the app to use. If you don't have a smart phone, you can go to groupme.com and create an account. If you have any questions about accessing this form of communication, feel free to talk with Pastor Chris.
