Economic Development News from Guernsey County

Welcome to the first, monthly e-newsletter from the Cambridge-Guernsey Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) and Port Authority. The CIC was created in 1965 to serve as the local economic development office in Guernsey County. The Port Authority was added in 2000 to support the CIC's economic development and community improvement mission. We are excited to share updates and let you know about upcoming events. Public Private Partnerships

The CIC is able to work toward its mission thanks to strong, public-sector support. Guernsey County, Cambridge, Byesville, Cambridge Township, Jackson Township, Guernsey County Port Authority and Guernsey County Planning Commission annually contribute funds to the CIC. This year, the CIC launched the Guernsey Development Coalition (GDC) to increase financial support and engagement from the private sector. Park National Bank is a GDC contributor. Housing, Youth Retention & Attraction Top Strategic Planning Goals

The Guernsey County Planning Commission, with support from the Ohio University Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service, is updating the county's strategic plan. Through the year-long process, public input identified housing development, and the need to retain and attract young people as top priorities. The Planning Commission in August expects to review the document before presenting it to the county commissioners for approval. If you'd like to learn more, contact Bill Arnett at the CIC office.

Manufacturing Council Hears from OhioSE

Matt Abbott, President & CEO, OhioSE Economic Development, presented to about 40 people May 15 during the Guernsey County Manufacturing Council meeting. The CIC and OhioMeansJobs Guernsey County coordinates the Manufacturing Council program. It is designed to provide information and a networking opportunity for local manufacturers.
