| | Youth Got This! Leadership in Action | | We often hear that young people are the leaders of tomorrow—but many are leading right now! Our 2026 Youth Got This! summit brought together a select group of 27 students from across the five-county region for a powerful day of learning, honest conversation, and leadership in action. On February 24, youth from grades 9-11 developed a vision for becoming stronger leaders and being accountable to the people around them. | | |
Student reflections on what they learned:
“Being able to identify all of the emotions and values behind the leader I am and want to become.”
“I am good at helping and being there when people need me.”
“I’m more confident than I thought.”
| | Did you know? Youth Got This! is one of our many Youth in Action programs and is supported by the Youth Cannabis and Commercial Tobacco Prevention Program at the Washington State Department of Health. Funding comes directly from retail cannabis revenues as laid out in state Initiative 502, now known as RCW 69.50.540. | | |
If you live, work, or raise a child in the Concrete or Sedro‑Woolley School District, we invite you to share your perspective on youth substance use. The Washington State Health Care Authority’s Community Survey is quick, anonymous, and tailored to our local area. You can skip any question or exit at any time—and it takes just 2–3 minutes to complete. When more community members participate, we gain a clearer picture of what’s really happening for our youth. Take a moment to be heard, and encourage others to do the same—your input helps shape healthier futures.
| | How do these surveys impact our work? The insights you share help Sedro‑Woolley RISE and the Concrete Resource Coalition focus our time, energy, and resources where they matter most. Local data helps us prioritize areas of concern and celebrate what's already going well. Ongoing, reliable information from the Healthy Youth Survey allows us to track trends over time and measure how our prevention and mental health efforts are truly making a difference for our young people. | | Bouquet Share Subscriptions | |
Brighten your summer and make a difference by joining the Concrete Farm to School Donor Bouquet Share! Your membership directly supports our high school students while providing you with bouquets of fresh, farm‑grown flowers from the school farm.

| | | Seasonal Snack – Carrot Chia Muffins | | | | |
Who doesn’t love a freshly baked muffin? And when they include a healthy dose of beta-carotene, fiber, vitamin K1, potassium, and antioxidants, even better! These easy and delicious carrot muffins are equally at home as a casual afternoon snack or for your upcoming Easter brunch celebration. Get the recipe here.
In the time before spring planting, carrots that spent the cold months safely underground bring much-needed freshness, crunch, and nutrition to our late-winter diet. The Concrete Farm to School garden provided 50 pounds of carrots for school lunches in January!
| | Mark Your Calendar and Shop With Purpose on March 27! | | |
We’re thrilled to share that Sedro‑Woolley Farm to School has been selected as a recipient of the Skagit Valley Food Co‑op’s 5% Friday program! On Friday, March 27, something as simple as your weekly shopping trip can make a lasting difference for local students. When you shop at the Co‑op that day—whether you’re buying groceries, beauty items, plants, housewares, or gifts—5% of all sales will be donated directly to support our Sedro-Woolley Farm to School programming! These funds help us build and sustain school gardens and provide hands‑on, high‑quality learning experiences for students across multiple elementary schools and Cascade Middle School.

Just in time to enjoy the fresh spring air, amazing trails are being developed at Northern State in Sedro-Woolley. Volunteers with Skagit Trail Builders have been working with the Port of Skagit this fall and winter on multiple routes (see project maps here).
In March, they are turning their attention to a trail at the new Olmstead Park. Sign up to volunteer on Saturday, March 14 or 28, and be a part of creating the Thompson Pond Loop Trail that will be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike for generations to come! Folks of all ages and experience levels are welcome to volunteer – learn more and sign up here.

| | Remembering Kenny Tuckerman | | |
We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our colleague and friend, Kenny Tuckerman, who died from cancer this January. Kenny served as a Fiscal Analyst, but his impact reached far beyond numbers. He believed deeply in our community‑centered mission and took the time to understand the people and partnerships behind the work.
A devoted husband and father, Kenny joined our organization after time away from professional life and quickly made his mark through his dedication and care. He became a trusted and integral member of our administrative team, carefully stewarding the resources and opportunities entrusted to us. He also volunteered his time raising puppies to become service animals through Canine Companions, regularly bringing them into the office to help them learn how to navigate a work environment. The dogs, like Kenny, brought warmth and joy to the people around them.
A celebration of Kenny’s life will be held this April on the hospital district campus. If you would like to attend or share memories of Kenny, please contact us at HR@UnitedGeneral.org. He will be greatly missed.
