PARENTS: Please Add Bishop Watterson to Your Phone Contacts, (614) 268-8671

Calls from extensions at BWHS are showing up as potential spam.

When students are sick and need to go home, our nurse, Mrs. Friend, will have them call a parent from the school phone in the health office. It has been noted that parents frequently do not answer because the number shows up as a potential spam call.

So please add Bishop Watterson’s main phone number, (614) 268-8671, to your contacts so that calls from the school display as Bishop Watterson on your phone screen.

Volunteer of the Month for September

Congratulations to Anna Cobb ’27, Bishop Watterson’s Volunteer of the Month for September! When Anna was in 7th grade, her older sister, Sarah ’22, began helping with the Hilliard Special Olympics Bowling program. Anna tagged along to practices and immediately felt a calling to continue serving the Special Olympics community. Now a senior, Anna has served as a volunteer coach every year since she was in 7th grade. She loves the connections she has made with the athletes and, after six seasons of coaching, she has had the opportunity to see their growth and improvement firsthand. The athletes are a bright spot in her life, and she has become a familiar and encouraging presence in theirs. Most recently, Anna had the opportunity to help at the large state tournament at Ohio State.

In addition to her work with the Special Olympics, Anna has donated countless hours to Our Lady of Bethlehem School and Childcare, helping in the infant and toddler room as a continuation of her sophomore service experience. She is also very involved at St. Michael’s Parish, where she is a familiar and friendly face at both the parish fish fry and parish festival.

Anna has contributed more than 230 hours of service during her time at Bishop Watterson, but her impact extends far beyond the number of hours she has logged. Her commitment to serving others, the relationships she has formed and her willingness to continue showing up year after year are a wonderful reflection of what it means to put faith into action. Anna, we are grateful for the many ways you have shared your time, talents and heart with our community.

Sophomore and Junior Families

Today students are taking the PSAT. The PSAT is a preliminary test created by the College Board to prepare for the SAT. For juniors this is also a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Competition. The test is fully digital and divided into reading and writing and math sections. Counselors will review score results with the sophomores in a classroom session in December. Counselors will review score results with the juniors during individual future planning meetings.

Senior Families

Seniors should be paying attention to college application deadlines with Early Action dates approaching on October 15 and November 1. Students should request transcripts and letters of recommendation two weeks prior to their application deadline. Additionally, test scores for those applications must be sent from ACT and College Board, so students should also request those two weeks prior to their application deadline. Counselors are already sending out transcripts and application materials.

Freshman will receive a google form in their email to sign up.
