Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ -

Welcome to Father Joseph Donovan, MM, a Maryknoll Missionary priest for a special appeal to support the Maryknoll Mission.

Father Joseph, a native New Yorker, was ordained at Maryknoll, NY in 1979. Though his first experiences were in Guatemala in 1973, he began a 32 year association with the missions in Lima Peru. His ministry was to accompany the indigenous of the Andes Mountains in their relocation to the capital city and the creation of faith communities, which blossomed into large, sprawling parishes.

He welcome the opportunity to share his ministry experiences as our guest this weekend.

Peace, Father Gil

Saint Francis, our brother,

you who eight hundred years ago

went to meet Sister Death as a man at peace,

intercede for us before the Lord.

You recognized true peace in the Crucifix of San Damiano, teach us to seek in Him the source of all reconciliation

that breaks down every wall.

You who, unarmed, crossed the lines of war

and misunderstanding,

give us the courage to build bridges

where the world raises up boundaries.

In this time afflicted by conflict and division, intercede for us

so that we may become peacemakers: unarmed and disarming

witnesses of the peace that comes from Christ.
