Well met, Friend of Liberty!
A traditional Revolutionary War greeting seems especially fitting this week! In honor of Independence Day, we open this newsletter by featuring Danielle Nyland, a creative entrepreneur from Greene County whose art celebrates America 250.
We are also marking a milestone for an Erie nonprofit, highlighting a creative economy success, spotlighting a new solar array in Pittsburgh, and sharing developments in affordable housing.
We invite you to read a pair of articles about BUILD CDC's latest renovation project, which is creating accessible, affordable housing and retail space in Erie. The first article features a conversation with BUILD CDC Executive Director Laura Guncheon, exploring the organization's mission and the latest project that is being launched with support from Bridgeway. In the companion piece, Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer Carlos Hackett answers four questions about the construction and renovation loan process, drawing inspiration from BUILD CDC's project to illustrate what's possible.
We also have a few quick news items featuring Bridgeway's clients, including the Energy Innovation Center, the Allegheny YMCA, creative entrepreneur Kim Flurry, and LOOP Youngstown.
Before we go, we encourage you to save the date — Wednesday, October 28 — for our 2026 Annual Event!
Thanks for taking the time to stay up to date with Bridgeway Capital. As always, if we can assist with financing for your small business, nonprofit, or commercial real estate development project, we’d love to hear from you.
And huzzah for liberty!

Turning a Creative Practice into a Community-Minded Business
Meet Danielle Nyland
When local creative entrepreneur Danielle Nyland received the news that she was selected to participate in America250PA’s Bells Across PA project, it came as a surprise, as the selection process had unfolded over several years. During that time, Danielle was also evolving, preparing to transition her painting practice into a full-time business. With support from Bridgeway's Alliance for Creative Rural Economies, the Greene County artist has done just that.
