Circus Suites

Housing for the Creative Class, a Docuseries

Three of my Circus Mojo alums are homeless right now.

Let that sink in. We have a house in Ludlow for them to own and move into, but we need help fixing it up. We’re raising funds to turn that house into artist-owned housing and kick off Season One of Circus Suites. All we’re asking is $3 to start changing lives -- with reality TV as the vehicle.

Circus Mojo has provided housing for artists in Ludlow for 16 years. When I was a clown with Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey, the billionaire owner docked $10/week from my $237 paycheck just for a bunk on his train. I swore that if I ever had a circus, artists would never have to pay for a place to live. And I’ve kept that promise.

The Big Picture

The City of Ludlow once sold us a church and a house for $1—to build a training center and artist-owned homes. I worked for 2 years and secured $500,000 from Kentucky’s Department of Tourism and a local bank.

Then? The city shut us down—the same day we bid on a nearby parking lot.

Did we fight back? Nope. We built forward.

We reopened the Ludlow Theatre and launched Bircus Brewing, the first U.S. brewery organized under SEC Regulation A+. It was crowdfunded by people who believe in the power of community and creativity.

Reality TV with Real Stakes

The city gave $120 million to a developer for 65 acres in town. That developer gets 25% of the property taxes for 30 years. Meanwhile, Circus Mojo and Bircus leveraged this development to bring America’s Got Talent Winner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. to create this show. Harnessing his incredible story from homeless to homeowner via Reality Television.

Mayor Chris Wright backed our plan to restore Big Blue—a historic building now on the National Register with $1 million in tax credits. He even floated a plan for outdoor events on our 2-acre site. But like most politicians, his words came cheap.

We’ve kept working anyway.

Circus Suites is the Soap Opera You Didn’t Know You Needed

There are some great PERKS, including tickets to the Double Feature Premiere of Circus Suites with TREAD, another tale of community development gone awry.

Each week, People work together to restore homes and lives.

Every day, a few minutes of joy will stream free for kids on TikTok at 4 PM—just like after-school specials from the ‘80s.

This is storytelling with a purpose.

I once worked on As The World Turns—Procter & Gamble signed my paycheck.

Circus Suites is Bircus’ As the World Turns—but in real time.

There’s no biz like show biz—especially when it builds real community.
