Stunning Islands with Less Tourists
|
|
-
The remote Koh Tarutao archipelago close to the Malaysian border has the best diving and snorkeling in Thailand, with delightful mom-and-pop boutique hotels, a fantastic boardwalk full of culinary delights, expert Thai massage and dramatically fewer tourists than the mega-commercial islands around Krabi or Phuket.
-
Upgrade Option: Koh Samui. This resort is strategically located in one of the best areas of Koh Samui – the curving north end of Chaweng beach. This peaceful hillside oasis overlooks a secluded bay, offering privacy and tranquility on a private beach surrounded by verdant tropical trees. The resort’s architecture superbly combines Thai style and modern luxuries. Ko Samui is much closer than Koh Tarutau, so you can enjoy more time in the islands and still avoid the crowds.

"My expectations of Wild Planet Adventures were very high—a company dedicated to curated wildlife adventure tourism with unique destinations and exceptional itineraries not typically offered by other tour operators. Well, WPA exceeded those expectations -- and then some!
For those concerned about traveling to Africa during Covid, I can tell you first-hand that tourism is unaffected and protocols are observed everywhere. There definitely are travelers in Africa! There was a high level of mask compliance. Most lodge staff were vaccinated but definitely everybody - staff and travelers alike - were wearing masks everywhere we have interacted. Most importantly, we felt very safe. The entry to each country was simple if you followed the rules. And the safari experience itself was so beyond belief and that includes ALL of the WPA staff, both local and international. Each destination and every safari lodge was absolutely amazing! Just no words! The experience was thrilling, the accommodations superb, the guides world-class, and the wildlife was the best I’ve experienced. I strongly recommend WPA for a truly wild and unforgettable experience.”
-- Ned S. - Zambia Ultimate Wildlife Safari - August 2021
"Traveling with a 4 y/o to both the Galapagos and Peru during a pandemic could not have been more of a breeze! The experiences, food, guides and accommodations far exceeded our expectations. After traveling with Wild Planet Adventures to Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, and now the Galapagos and Peru, I wouldn’t choose to travel with anyone else. Everything is so meticulously planned to ensure traveler comfort while maximizing time immersed in nature and culture. The personal attention the guides gave us and our child was priceless! We’ve begun a list of future vacations we will only leave up to Wild Planet Adventures. My family and I truly feel there is no better company to travel with. Enjoy the ride and leave the worrying to Josh and his expert team!"
Kristen & Christopher Kisiel, Galapagos & Peru Sept 2021.
"If on a 5 point scale where 5 exceeded expectations, I'd give the trip a 5+++! We had a fabulous time. All logistics were perfect (including the COVID testing!). The food was generally excellent. The itinerary was great. We felt we were at adult day camp with two morning and two afternoon activities daily! Susan and I both felt that we were always sorry to see an activity end, we were never bored, too fatigued, or at the point where we said, "enough already." The wildlife exceeded what we thought we would see both in numbers and variety. Every activity, every meal was so well coordinated, with many thoughtful touches. Our guides (Maria, Andres and Eric) were encyclopedic in their knowledge and obviously passionate about their country. They were always there with a helping hand (literally helping Susan cross crevasses and making her way over the uneven rocks) and were always patient in answering a barrage of questions from the group. All in all one of our all time favorite trips - and we've already taken several with you! Susan and I look forward to planning our next adventure with you (We're ready to book Uganda next summer!)
Jim & Susan Schneider, Galapagos, Oct 2021
