Think Dignity at 20 Years

New Leadership, New Tools, New Momentum

As we move through our 20th year of advancing dignity in San Diego, we are proud to share exciting updates that position Think Dignity for even greater impact in 2026 and beyond.

Over the past two decades, our community has shown that when we come together with compassion, courage, and commitment we help to restore, defend, and advance dignity for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Today, we’re building on that foundation with new leadership, new engagement opportunities, and a renewed call to action.

We hope that you'll continue to support our mission, stand with and learn from those we serve, and make 2026 the Year of Dignity!

In solidarity,

THINK DIGNITY

2026 Board of Directors

New Leadership, Same Commitment

We are honored to introduce our 2026 Board of Directors! This group of dedicated community leaders is committed to advancing basic dignity across San Diego through oversight of our impact programs, Dignity Legal Services, and advocacy efforts.

Matthew Wechter

BOARD PRESIDENT

Matt is a Deputy Public Defender with the San Diego Office of the Public Defender. Matt is also a member of the San Diego County Continuum of Care Advisory Board, Alternatives to Incarceration Workgroup, and an advisor to the American Bar Association’s Commission on Homelessness and Poverty, which provides policy guidance and technical assistance to replicate the ABA/San Diego HCP model in jurisdictions across the country.

Cynthia Woelfel

BOARD VICE PRESIDENT

When Cynthia moved to San Diego in 2021, she began volunteering at the Street Cafe and Survival Supply Distributions. Impressed by Think Dignity's programs, advocacy and leadership, Cynthia joined the board of directors in 2024. After 35 years serving her community as a clinical psychologist, Cynthia hopes that her expertise in mental health, communication, and the devastating consequences of trauma will enhance the board’s capacity to further our mission in meeting the needs of the homeless with dignity.

Kristi Steinberg

BOARD SECRETARY

Kristi joined the Think Dignity Board in 2025 after retiring to San Diego from New Jersey. She worked for 26 years in the luxury automotive industry in Marketing, Customer Experience, and Market Research senior management positions. Kristi looks forward to applying her skills to forward Think Dignity’s mission and to give back to the San Diego community.

Allison Martinez

BOARD TREASURER

Allison joined the Think Dignity Board of directors as Treasurer in January 2026. Allison is an experienced employee benefits and tax attorney with more than 15 years of experience. She moved to San Diego in October 2025. As a newer San Diegan, Allison is excited to dedicate her efforts to furthering Think Dignity’s mission by advancing basic dignity for members of our community experiencing homelessness.

This year’s board brings experience in nonprofit management, public policy, communications, finance, community organizing, and philanthropy. Together, they will guide Think Dignity through our 20th anniversary year and beyond.

20 for 20 Campaign

Investing in 20 Years of Dignity

As we celebrate twenty years of serving San Diego, we’re asking our Dignity Defenders to help us reach our goal of raising $20,000 for our 20th Anniversary.

We’re kicking off 2026 with the “20 for 20” Campaign to support our newest impact programs, the launch of our Dignity Legal Services, and the continuation of the Basic Dignity Coalition.

For two decades, this community has shown up, and you have been a key player in that. Now, we’re hoping you will invest in the next twenty years of impact.

Thank you.
