Saturday, January 18

What: El Sobrante MLK Day of Service and Cleanup

When/Where: Meet at El Sobrante Public Library, 4191 Appian Way, at 10am to sign in, borrow cleanup and safety equipment and select a location for cleanup. Event lasts until 1pm. The Green Team meets every third Saturday of the month at the library from 10am to 1pm for their monthly cleanups.

What: Friends of Pinole Creek Watershed

When/Where: Meet at Bayfront Park on January 18 for the Community Creek Cleanup. Keep an eye on social media (Facebook and Instagram) if the weather looks threatening. Come prepared to start the year off on the right foot!

What: El Cerrito Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 36th Annual Celebration Rally & Parade 

When/Where: 

• 9 a.m. gather at El Cerrito City Hall (10890 San Pablo Ave)
• 10 a.m. Parade begins
• 11 a.m. Rally starts at El Cerrito High School (540 Ashbury Ave, El Cerrito, CA 94530)

What: 18th Annual MLK Jr. National Day of Service.

When/Where:

• From 9am to 11:15am:
• Volunteer Projects along the Richmond Greenway, from 2nd Street to 22nd Street

• 11:30 am to 1:00 pm
• Join us at 17th St, Richmond, CA 94801 for a vibrant Dr. King Celebration! Gather at 11:30am as we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Enjoy heartwarming worm soup, live music, local vendors, and more. When/Where: 10:00am - 1:00pm The Martin Luther King Jr National Day of Service is an opportunity for many folks across the country to step up to make communities more equitable and to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Join us at the North Richmond Farm and participate in our exciting multi-phase progress! What: Contra Costa Board of Supervisors' 47th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Humanitarian of the Year Awards

When/Where: In Person at County Administration Building, 1025 Escobar St., Martinez or via live-stream here or here, starting at 11:00am. The event will also broadcast live on Contra Costa Television (CCTV) channels, Comcast Cable 27, ATT/U-Verse 99, and WAVE 32. 

Keynote Speaker – Mitchell Hopson who is a strategic financial and business operations professional. Mitchell is an active community member serving on various volunteer boards and organizations.

Reúnase en la Biblioteca Pública de El Sobrante, 4191 Appian Way, a las 10 a.m. para registrarse, pedir prestado equipo de limpieza y seguridad, y seleccionar un lugar para limpiar. El evento dura hasta la 1 p.m. El Green Team se reúne cada tercer sábado del mes en la biblioteca de 10 a.m. a 1 p.m. para sus limpiezas mensuales.
