Community Help Drive

Come join the Yorba Linda Teen Action Committee in bringing joy to those in need this holiday season. We encourage you to bring a non-perishable, non-expired food item or unwrapped gift for a young boy or girl to any of the drop-off locations listed below. All items collected will be donated to the Yorba Linda Food for Families Program. Fore more information, please call the Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field House at 714-961-7192.

Santa Express Letters

November 1 to December 6

Do you need to get your Christmas list to Santa in a hurry? We can help you! The City of Yorba Linda Parks and Recreation Department will be working with Santa Claus this holiday season to deliver all of your holiday wish lists! Grab the paper provided at the mailbox (or use your own) and send Santa your request with a self-addressed stamped envelope! Letters must be received by December 8 for a timely delivery and response from Santa. Santa Express mailboxes will be available from November 1 to December 6 at the following locations:

  • Travis Ranch Activity Center
  • Yorba Linda City Hall
  • Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center
  • Yorba Linda Community Center
  • Yorba Linda Public Library

Youth Empowerment Service Day

Saturday, November 9 | 10 a.m.

Looking to give back to your community? Donate your time! Youth Empowerment Service Day (YESD) is for students in grades 6th-12th and provides the opportunity to give back to their community and earn service credits. YESD will be partnering with Yorba Food for Families, a local non-profit dedicated to providing food for those in need. Volunteers will assist with sorting, date checking and bagging items for distribution, in addition to learning about the Yorba Linda Food for Families Program. Continental breakfast will be provided to volunteers.


Looking to get additional volunteer hours? Come to the Field House and grab a reusable collection bag and go collect cans from your friends, family, and neighbors. Each full bag will earn you two hours of community service. Limit is two bags. Bags can be brought to the Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field house before or during Youth Empowerment Service Day to earn volunteer credit. For more information, call 714-961-7192.

Yorba Linda Veterans Day Ceremony

Monday, November 11 | 2 p.m.

The Yorba Linda Veterans Memorial Association invites the community to join their traditional Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, November 11 at 2 p.m. at Veterans Park.

The event will include

  • US Marine Corps Veteran and published author, Adam Sikes as the keynote speaker.
  • Remarks from Yorba Linda Mayor, Tara Campbell.
  • Presentation of the colors by Esperanza High School Army Junior ROTC.
  • Pipers from the Los Angeles Police Emerald Society Pipes and Drums.
  • Traditional Gold Star Roll Call following the playing of taps.

A large tent will be set up to provide shade for many ceremony attendees. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. For more information, please visit the Yorba Linda Veterans Memorial Website.

Fall Facility Closures

Monday, November 11 and Thursday & Friday, November 28 & 29

All City facilities will be closed on Monday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day. All facilities will also be closed Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Adventure Playground Maintenance

The newest edition of the Yorba Linda Senior Bulletin is now available. Grab a copy of the Fall 2024 Senior Bulletin at the Yorba Linda Community Center or view online on our website.

The Senior Bulletin is a quarterly publication of programs, classes, services, events and information for older adults available at the Yorba Linda Community Center.

Family Art Experience

Time slots between 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

Family ART Experience at the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center is a series of workshops designed for families to engage in art experiences and exploration together. Each month will feature a new art form for your family to try together. Register at YLRecOnline.com using activity #22508 and select an available time slot. Get ready to unleash your creativity at the "Faces of Expression" exhibit, the first gallery of the new year. A showcase of portraiture featuring both people and animals! We invite all artists to share their unique visions and vibrant expressions—because every face tells a story worth sharing. Mark your calendars: submissions will be accepted from November 12 to December 13, and the exhibit will be on display from January 7 to February 28.

9-12th Grade Students

Join the City of Yorba Linda's Community Volunteer Program! Each month there will be various opportunities for volunteer hours. Activities vary; in the past they included special events, youth sports, and senior citizen program assistance. Applications are available online at yorbalindaca.gov, or call 714-961-7192 for more information on how to get involved.

Breakfast with Santa

Saturday, December 7 | 9-11:30 a.m.

Savor the magic of the holiday season at Breakfast with Santa! This holly jolly event will include breakfast, crafts, live entertainment, and activities with Santa. Not to mention every family will have a special one-on-one visit with Santa.

A new quantity based registration feature is enabled for this activity. Select the total number of people attending, answer the custom questions pertaining to total number of children attending, and the system will calculate your total. You do not need to register each individual.

Space is limited; no walk-in registration will be accepted.

Holidays on the Paseo Wednesday, December 18 | 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Located on the Yorba Linda Public Library and the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center campus. The entire family is invited to join us for this magical holiday event. Take in the sparkling lights along the paseo as you decorate cookies, sip hot cocoa, and make crafts. Plus, enjoy the joyful sounds of holiday music. This event is completely free and no prior registration is necessary.

Part-Time Recreation Leader

This is a part-time position under the general supervision of the Recreation Specialist, Recreation Coordinator and/or Recreation Supervisor. Responsibilities include assisting in the daily operations of recreation facilities including preparing facility and room setups, monitoring facility rentals, organizing and leading a variety of recreation activities and special events for youth, teen, adult and the older population. Staff may be assigned to work one or more divisions, including youth or adult sports, facility operations, youth/teen programming, senior programming, and special events.
