Mayor Beauchamp in the News!

Mayor Beauchamp joined Kim Kalunian on 12 News on Wednesday, May 21 to discuss several key issues facing the city. The mayor talked about school safety, a recently approved ban on homeless encampments on city property, and a past due 2022-2023 financial audit. Mayor Beauchamp also touched upon a new business opening up in Walnut Hill Plaza.

The Situation Table

The Situation Table is an innovative and collaborative rapid-response intervention model specifically designed to support individuals and families who are experiencing acutely elevated risk (AER). Simply, the Situation Table addresses issues before they rise to crisis level. This impactful initiative was first launched in Saskatchewan in 2011 and has successfully expanded to over 160 sites across Canada and more than 30 sites in the United States. Woonsocket proudly joins this movement as the second community in Rhode Island to implement a Situation Table, following the earlier introduction in Newport-Middletown this year. This important local effort was made possible through the dedicated collaboration of the Mayor's Office, the Woonsocket Education Department, and the Beloved Woonsocket Workgroup. With the strong leadership of Mayor Christopher Beauchamp and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Patrick McGee, who have both been instrumental in bringing this initiative to life, the Woonsocket Situation Table now includes a diverse group of 101 individuals who work and/or reside in the community, all committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Veteran's Corner

On Monday, May 26, the City along with the United Veteran's Council held the annual Memorial Day Ceremony at World War II Park. At the ceremony, United Veteran's Council proudly launched its Veterans Banner Tribute Program. This initiative honors local veterans by displaying personalized banners on Main Street, ensuring their service and sacrifice are recognized and remembered by all.

VOTE Woonsocket!

In accordance with state law, the Woonsocket Board of Canvassers successfully conducted the quarterly National Change of Address (NCOA) voter roll maintenance. Over 600 registered voters were identified as having addresses registered with the USPS that did not match the residence address listed on their voter registration. A notice is sent to both addresses instructing the individual to identify which address is accurate. Respondents have 14 days to respond to the notice before action is taken to update their registration status.
