Worship on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
In-Person or Online

During the 50 days of the Easter season, we are exploring the resurrected Christ through the worship series, “Where’s Jesus?” This Sunday, we will hear the familiar story of the "Walk to Emmaus." However, we will hear the story as translated in the First Nations Version (an indigenous translation of the New Testament). This Sunday is Native American Ministries Sunday. We will offer our TUMC Land Acknowledgment publicly for the first time and receive a special offering to support Native American ministries. In a message called "Where's Jesus? On the Land" Pastor Jeremy will remind us that the resurrected Christ shows up in the ordinary and the material...not in supernatural apparitions.

Gregor Ralston will be at the piano, Karen will read scripture, and Jeff will sing and play an original song on the guitar. We hope you can join us -- in person or online -- for a wonderful experience of worship! Download the Sunday, April 23, 2023 worship bulletin here.
On Sunday, Childcare for children 5 and under is available starting at 9:15 a.m.
TUMC is Hiring Childcare Staff!

Pay is $16 per hour. Questions? Contact Sharon Rollins (sgrollins@comcast.net), SPRC Chair, or Pastor Jeremy (jeremyhp@tigardumc.org).
Tigard UMC Land Acknowledgment

(Want to find out more about Land Acknowledgments? Visit the GNW Circle of Indigenous Ministries website.)

As we gather in community, we pause to humbly acknowledge that Tigard United Methodist Church and Bethlehem House of Bread are on the unceded ancestral homelands of the Atfalati (“at-fall-uh-tee”) Kalapuyans (“cal-uh-poo-yuns”). Today, they are represented by the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz.

As current members and constituents of Tigard United Methodist Church we acknowledge that people with a spiritual connection to this land have been here for thousands of years before us. We grieve the harm caused by past Methodist missionary zeal, including the generational harm on Native American people from settler colonialism, forced displacement and assimilation. We honor the native peoples who have coexisted in interdependent and sustainable relationships with the land for centuries: they are still here and connected to this place. (April 2023)
