The Message this Week
Preaching Text: 1 Samuel 16:1-13
God looks at our hearts. This is an interesting scripture for a week when students affirm with words the promises of their baptisms. Or maybe it is exactly what our students need to hear. We often talk about them with lists of accomplishments, teams they are a part of, and the other people they are connected with. GLC is a place where we seek to see their hearts; their vulnerability, their kindness and laughter, their giftedness beyond the ability to measure it. Maybe you need the same reminders; you are more than your accomplishments, teams and connections. You are beloved for all of who you are.
God, help us to rest in our belovedness and to live out of that belovedness in our lives, in Jesusโ name, Amen.

WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.
Why do we do an affirmation of baptism rather than another baptism? Does it hurt to be baptized more than once?

Rite of Confirmation for our high school freshmen will take place this Sunday, October 19 during the 10:30AM service. We are expecting a very busy service as our confirmand families have over 160 guests so we suggest that you allow time for parking.
Sunday School will take place at 9AM AND 10:30AM for any families that would like to avoid the crowd.

- Show us how you work in unexpected ways to carry out your will for the world that you have made.
- Show us how to protect and nurture the natural world, that we might share in the joys it brings for generations to come.
- Open our eyes to clearly see the strengths of our potential leaders, that we might choose with wisdom and care those who will direct and inspire our communities toward your vision of justice for all people.
- We pray that you would hold all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit, especially John & Cindy Yeo.
- With your servants of every age, we are in good company with your saints, and share in your holy fellowship.
- For our 2025 Confirmands: Addison, Annabelle, Bud, Ethan, Leif, Lila, Lucas B, Lucas G, Lukas L, Luke C, Mia, Nadia, Paxton, Ryann
We lift all these prayers, and those of our hearts, to your loving care, O God. Receive them and restore our hope in your promises. In Jesusโ name. Amen.
