I-270 North Project completion celebrated at ribbon cutting

Gov. Parson, MoDOT officials and project contractors were in attendance

"The I-270 North Project demonstrates the success we can achieve when government, private industries and local communities invest in transportation infrastructure. This project also supported the workforce of tomorrow through a STEM program, which included more than 100 local high school students."

Gov. Mike Parson

The completion of the $278 million Interstate 270 North Project was celebrated with an official ceremony earlier this week in Hazelwood. Gov. Mike Parson joined state and local elected officials along with MoDOT leadership and the Millstone-Weber and Parsons Design-Build contractor team to cut the ribbon on this four-year-long makeover of more than nine miles of interstate in north St. Louis County.

Construction on the I-270 North Project began in April 2020. The four municipalities along I-270, St. Louis County, Metro transit and countless businesses have worked together on the design and construction challenges to complete this project on time and on budget.

The I-270 North Project improvements include:

  • Reconstructed interchanges at North Lindbergh (Route 67), Hanley/Graham, New Florissant (Route N), Washington/Elizabeth, West Florissant, New Halls Ferry, Old Halls Ferry and Lewis and Clark (Route 367).
  • Additional driving lane in both directions on I-270 from North Lindbergh (Route 67) to Lewis and Clark (Route 367).
  • Improved accessibility for bicyclists and pedestrians with a multi-use path from Lindbergh (Route 67) to Breezy Point along Dunn, and from Hanley/Graham to Old Halls Ferry along Pershall.
  • Improved safety with an updated outer road system that includes removal of all cross over slip ramps.
  • Signal updates and replacements.
  • New and replaced bridges.
