From Your Administrative Team

Greetings Connect K8 Families,

Welcome to October! We are excited that this month brings Student Led Conferences, the Da Vinci Schools' Transforming Learning Conference, and hopefully some cooler fall weather! We also want to wish everyone an easy fast in our community who is observing Yom Kippur! You can learn more about Yom Kippur here.

Student Led Conferences are one of our favorite opportunities to put students in the driver's seat of their own learning! We invite you to take a listen to some of the miniseries from High Tech High about the purpose and impact of Student Led Conferences HERE. Student Led Conferences this year will be held October 18-20, which will be homeschool days for everyone.

We also want to welcome back our campers and chaperones who attended Catalina camp last week! We are grateful for the opportunity to share this experience with our students, and are grateful to everyone who made it possible!

Finally, we want to share a huge thank you to Jahmal, our Core 4 Planning Committee, and every family who participated in last week's Multi-Cultural Fair! This event is so special, and continues to grow in magical ways each year because of you! We can't wait for next year! Check out a few photos from the event below:

Enjoy Your Week,

Kaitlin (she/her) and Sage (he/him)

A Message from Our School Nurse!

California school laws requires that a screening for vision and hearing be offered at enrollment in TK/Kinder and at least every third year until students have completed the eighth grade.

DV Connect will conduct our vision and hearing screening program for all students in grades TK, K, 2nd, 5th, and 8th grades starting next week. We anticipate it will take 2-3 weeks to complete.

A screening program is not a means of diagnosing hearing and vision problems, but uses collected data to refer students with possible problems for further evaluation and treatment. Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor.

The screening tests are basic and can be performed in less than 5 minutes. The school nurse will check your child’s near and distance vision and their hearing. If you do not want your student screened, please email Egreen@davincischools.org.

You will be contacted if there are any findings outside the normal range. The recommendation will be to follow up with your pediatrician/family physician, or eye doctor.
