Events

All Emory Crossing events held at the Amenity Center are for residents only unless otherwise stated. Registration links will be included in this year's community events. Please register so we can plan accordingly.

Registration for the Earth Day Event has ended so plants could be ordered. We look forward to seeing everyone! Please look for the sign in sheet when you arrive.

Save the dates!

There will be a community event on June 5th from 3-5pm to celebrate the new pool season. See all the fun pool updates below.

Get your amenity access requested if you do not already have it. You will be required to fob in to access the pool for this event. Staff will not open the gate for anyone.

The Reading Ready Book Tour is coming back to Emory Crossing June 15-17th from 9 to 12pm!

Community Info

Wasp Season

Check under tables, benches, play equipment. They seem to be building lower to the ground this year.

Please report any active nests to the office. Wasps are treated throughout the week. However, most nests are very tiny, so it is possible some were missed.

Pest control is monthly. Please email or text pictures with a location.

Amenity Access

NEW ISSUE: The security company has informed me PDK pushed out another update. This appears to only be affecting new or modified users. If you were given access within the last 2 weeks, please note, your access may not work. You are on my IT ticket, so no further action is needed by you.

If you have never had access, got a new phone, or are having other issues with your current access, please submit a request HERE. Access will be delayed until the system issue has been corrected.

Pool

Coming soon - new shade structures near the back of the pool. We are also working on making some deck repairs from the snow/ice storm.

Here's a reminder of the pool rules. Pool season opens May 1st! Pool monitors will be present. Like last year, they will be checking bags for alcohol and glass. Please do not bring either to the pool or amenity center in general.

The pool event has been moved to June to allow for more participation since school will have let out.

Our Hippo has Arrived!

The Emory Crossing HIppo was installed this week. Have you found him yet? He's near the playground.

He (or she?) doesn't have a name yet, so we will need to have a fun little contest to figure that out.

The initial round of names will be narrowed down by the Board. Then we will have a poll with the residents.

Have fun! Make it memorable! Make it simple and easy to remember!

Left to right, top to bottom -- All found here in Emory Crossing.

Indian Paint Brush, Verbena with a Monarch Butterfly, Bluebonnet, Antelope Horn Milkweed, Plains Coreopsis, Verbena with a Dogface Butterfly, Indian Blanket.

Also recently found was Green Milkweed. This is a powerhouse milkweed that grows very large. We have Zizotes Milkweed in our butterfly garden.

Native Milkweed & Plants

HEB is officially a source to find native milkweed. After checking with local nurseries, you may also find native milkweed at Green Sleeves in Pflugerville. Snoopers will not carry it.

Do not plant Tropical Milkweed. This is junk food for the monarchs and does not allow them to properly migrate. Let's save the monarchs and only plant native!

Community Standards

Noise

Everyone has the right to the enjoyment of their property. However, music and general noise should be kept within your property lines.

Dogs cannot be left outside barking.

This also includes your vehicles. Revving and blasting music should be done elsewhere. Not inside the community.

Multiple complaints have come in from several areas of the neighborhood lately. Lets be neighborly.

Landscaping Tips & Tricks

We understand the wet weather has made mowing difficult. However, that has not been the issue with any yard. The issue is weeds. Do not just mow the weeds. Treat or pull them. Ridding your yard of weeds makes yard maintenance significantly easier and cheaper to manage.

Weeds in the Rocks & Yard - Spray a post emergent &/or pull these weeds and grasses out of the rocks.

Sow Thistle - Pull or treat this weed before it gets out of control. This is the most prolific weed in the neighborhood at this time. If you received a Mowing, Edging, Weeding notice - it applies to the weeds in your yard. (pic to the right)

Nutsedge Weed - Treat with SedgeHammer. Do not pull. It will spread.

Tree Pruning - All trees should be worked up to a 6-8' canopy base as the tree matures. If the tree is along a sidewalk, they need to be pruned up to 14'.

Fence Stain - Approved color is Wood Defender, Color: 200 Series, Semi-Transparent Sierra.

Dead Trees - Must be replaced with the same species, unless otherwise approved.

Trash/Recycling Bins - Store them out of view when it is not trash day. If you have an alley, you may store them on the driveway near the garage door.

Parking - Commercial vehicles are prohibited. Registration must be showing at all time. No car covers or expired registration is permitted. Do not park in fire lanes or the alleyways at any time.

Alleyways continue to be an issue. Do not drive against traffic.

This is a handy little tool for pulling weeds. It is only about $5-10 at our local hardware stores. Wet the lawn, gentle press tool vertically next to the weed, loosen the dirt, then you should be able to remove the weed - root and all - by tilting the tool towards the weed.

SedgeHammer is for nutsedge - a weed you should not pull. The nut stays in the ground and makes this weed spread. This is a selective herbicide, so it won't harm your healthy sod near by.
