Breast Cancer News You Can Use

Keeping up with breast cancer news can feel overwhelming. Our September roundup breaks down recent developments in plain language, with context to help patients, caregivers, and advocates understand what they could mean.

Our September edition covers:

Taking Action on Capitol Hill

On September 23, VBCF’s policy director joined breast cancer advocates from across the country on Capitol Hill to call for more accessible and affordable breast screening and care.

At the Breast Cancer Early Detection Coalition’s second annual Capitol Hill Day, advocates heard from clinicians and policy experts about barriers to supplemental screening that many women with dense breasts or elevated breast cancer risk still face.

They then met with elected leaders to urge support for the bipartisan Find It Early Act and other breast cancer legislation.

Their message was clear: Early detection saves lives, but the tools to find cancer early must be accessible, affordable, and equitable. VBCF was proud to bring Virginians’ needs to these conversations.
