Voter Registration & Eligibility

The voter registration process has changed for the

2026 Municipal Election

For Municipal Elections in Ontario you are eligible to vote in both your permanent AND seasonal municipalities. So if you own property in the Township of Lake of Bays or Town of Huntsville and are a Canadian citizen you and your spouse can vote locally (by phone or internet).

BUT, the way the voters' registration list is managed has changed and you may need to re-register your seasonal or second property.

BEFORE AUGUST 12, go to RegisterToVoteON.ca

to check if you are on the list and

update your information if you need to.

Having troubles or not comfortable doing this online?

Call Elections Ontario at 866.242.3025.

After August 12, 2026, any updates or additions to the voters’ list must be completed directly through your municipal clerk’s office.

What a wonderful day at the

36th Annual Baysville Walkabout!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Lake of Bays Association booth to say hello, ask questions, enter our book raffle, and learn more about the work we do to help protect and enhance Lake of Bays.

Whether we’re advocating for healthy shorelines, supporting water quality monitoring, promoting safe and respectful boating, welcoming new residents, or sharing information that helps our community thrive, LOBA is proud to be part of what makes Lake of Bays such a special place.

A special thank you to the Lake of Bays Garden Centre for generously donating native wildflower seed packets for us to share with visitors.

Events like the Walkabout remind us that strong communities are built through connection, conversation, and volunteers who care.

If you’re passionate about Lake of Bays and would like to support our work, we’d love to have you join us as a member or volunteer. Together, we’re helping protect what makes this place so special.

The Geezer Pole

Longtime Lake of Bays cottager and LOBA member, Gaylen Racine saw some of his friends struggle at the cottage as they aged, particularly when then got into or out of boats. They needed something secure to hold onto. After some investigation, he found materials at the Dorset Timber Mart which could be assembled into a sturdy pole that bolts into the dock beside the boat making an easy-to-grab support. The Geezer Pole was born. There are now over 15 of them on Southern Ontario lakes.

Parts are under $100 and a handy person can assemble it in under 15 minutes. If you would like the build instructions, contact Gaylen at grracine@bell.net.

If you are stuck, he can assemble one for you at $200 a pop. Profits go to the Dorset Community Health Hub.
