Staying Secure:

Guidance for PrimeMLS Customers

Dear PrimeMLS Customers,

We want to make you aware of a scam that has been reported by multiple PrimeMLS staff members and customers.

Staff has received emails and phone calls from individuals posing as customers with accurate customer data, including full name, current email address, license number, and M1 number. These individuals claim they have forgotten their PrimeMLS password and are unable to use the “Forgot/Change Password” feature because they no longer have access to the email address on file.

Individuals are also reaching out to state associations and local boards and, in some instances, successfully updating contact information.

At this time, the exact intent of this activity is unclear. It may involve attempts to install malware, gain access to personal or business information, or facilitate broader real estate fraud.

To keep our data and customer data secure, PrimeMLS has instituted protocols for any incoming requests to update customer data.

We recommend you take steps to ensure your safety:

  • Realtors should check their M1 account and verify that all information is accurate. If any changes were made that you did not authorize, contact your board immediately.
  • Be cautious about who you provide personal or account information to.
  • Do not open or download files or software from unknown or unverified contacts.
  • Ensure your contact information is always up to date with your MLS, real estate associations, and boards.
  • Report any suspicious activity to your broker and the appropriate authorities immediately.

Your security is important to us. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for helping keep our real estate community safe.

Sincerely,

— The PrimeMLS Team
