We Want YOU!

The Eastern Shore Art Center will be hosting the ever popular Outdoor Art Show in conjunction with the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival - March 15th, 16th and 17th.

We will need an army of volunteers in many areas: artist check in, hospitality, food service, gift shop, front desk and decorations. Please consider joining the Outdoor Art Show crew and volunteer to help with this wonderful event!

CURRENT EXHIBITS

This is an exhibition of the widely diverse clays, glazes, firing methods and techniques used to create work that expresse the potter’s ideas of clay’s limits and capabilities. These potters represent Alabama, Florida and Mississippi and are brought together by Maria Spies to display work during the month of February in conjunction with the 2024 Alabama Clay Conference which is held annually in Alabama.

This is Compton's autobiographical journey of finding home in a series of paintings and drawings. Each piece serves as a visual poem capturing the nuances of his disrupted entry into adulthood, catalyzed by the impact of Covid-19, ultimately culminating in the heartfelt return to his roots in Alabama.

Representational painter Mckenney’s aim is to capture a simple moment of everyday life. She balances between revealing too much detail, and leaving parts unsaid.

Through his personal journey of recovery, Louisiana artist Ben Peabody has created a compelling series of work titled “Art and Addiction” depicting the complexities of addiction, treatment, and recovery.

We had a huge turnout for the Art Walk last Friday night!

COMING UP IN OUR ACADEMY

UPCOMING WORKSHOP:

COLOR + COLLAGE + COMPOSITION

Painting with Billie Bourgeois

February 23-25, 2024 @ 10am to 4pm

Price: $5500 ($500 ESAC Members*)

This workshop will explore creating space in abstract painting. Inspired by the work of Mary Vernon (Dallas) and Chuta Kimura(Japan), Billie Bourgeois will lead artists in a ‘space-making ‘ abstract painting adventure. Using drawing, printmaking, stenciling, and collage, artists will create spatial relationships by engaging scale change, overlapping, a horizon line, and grids.

Join us for a very playful and fun experience!

Chris Murray will guide you through the painting process step by step. By the end of the session, each participant will have a completed painting to take home. Bring your beverage of choice, be ready to paint, and have fun! No previous experience is needed.

All supplies are provided! BYOB and Snacks!

Students must be 21+ years of age to attend this event.
