NOVEMBER 2025

As we get ready to gather with friends and family for Thanksgiving, it is always a time to reflect on what we are grateful for. We are so thankful for the opportunity we get each day to help make a difference in the lives of the animals we care for. This year alone over 1,700 animals have come through our doors. Although we cannot save every one, each one is given the care and the second chance that they deserve.

We cannot thank you enough for the support you give us. Your kindness and generosity make the work we do possible, and we are incredibly grateful.

Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving,

Stephanie Ellis

Executive Director

It was a fun Night at

Wild Care for Garv's

Great Pumpkin Party

A Great Horned Owl named Dracula looked right at home under a moody moonlit sky, Garv and other turtle friends greeted guests in the pumpkin patch, a pretty pittie played a game of Frog in the Bog, while guests enjoyed decorating pumpkins, sipping on fruity pumpkin punch served up by a bumble bee, and snacking on batty Oreo treats. This was the scene at Wild Care’s 2nd annual Garv’s Great Pumpkin Halloween Party.

Thank you to Bethany from Amazing Animal Ambassadors for joining us with Dracula, Flower and Dova. Thank you to our event sponsors: Dan Katz, Michael Brown and Lisa Holt. Thank you to donors: BJ’s Hyannis, Stop & Shop, Shaw’s, and Target for donations of goodies, Smith Family Popcorn for the awesome popcorn, Whole Foods Hyannis for the sugar pumpkins, Annie’s Crannies for the fresh cranberries, Agway, Hart Farm, The Farm, and Allard’s Farm for the beautiful fall pumpkins, mums, hay bales and cornstalks, and Susan Ellis for her creative and delicious baking!

Thank you to our amazing volunteers for helping to make the night fun and fabulous: Chris Kelly, Roz Goldstein, Panny Lengas, Alexandra Carroll, Judy Bullard, Lynn Adams, Rachel Kirchgessner, and Eva Posner.

Raven Flies Again

This big, beautiful Common Raven was found eating lobster bait by a fisherman in his yard. When approached the bird could not fly away, and was transported to Wild Care. The bird had pink feces, which was most likely from eating the bait. It was treated with Vitamin K in case it was suffering from the effects of ingesting rat poison, given crate rest and then exercise in our elliptical aviary until it was strong and flying well. It took a bit of coaxing to get the bird to leave, but eventually this beauty flew out on it’s own!

Wild Care Receives a Generous Grant from the Eddy Foundation

Wild Care was just awarded a generous grant from the Mary-Louse and Ruth N Eddy Foundation. Mary-Louise and Ruth Eddy were sisters and Brewster residents. They were incredibly generous philanthropists who devoted their lives to the preservation of open spaces, wildlife, pets, and a good quality of life and enrichment for people. Wild Care is fortunate to be one of the charities they cherished. They have supported us through their Estate for over 19 years. We are fortunate to continue their legacy by rehabilitating sick, injured and orphaned wildlife on Cape Cod.
