Yesterday, October 12, was recognized as Chief Red Wing Day in the City of Red Wing, and Tribal Council Vice President, Ron Johnson, attended Monday's City Council meeting to receive the proclamation from Mayor Iocco. Since 2014, this designated day has honored our city's namesake, Chief Red Wing, and paid tribute to the Bdewakantunwan Dakota people who lived here and cared for the land long before European settlement.
Before Monday's meeting, the flag of the Prairie Island Indian Community was also permanently added to the display of flags in our City Council Chambers. We appreciate the partnership between the Prairie Island Indian Community and the City of Red Wing to make our shared community the best it can be. You can read the Chief Red Wing Day proclamation, which is written in both English and Dakota, and was spoken in both languages at the meeting.

Mechanic Bob Enevold is something of a snowmobile collector in his spare time. With "well over 20" that he's fixed up, Bob frequents snowmobile shows and vintage snowmobile rides. You might expect then that the City's snowmobile – used to groom ski trails – would be his favorite thing to work on in the shop. However, it's actually the wide array of different equipment that has kept the job interesting and enjoyable for the last 25 years. (And even if Bob did pick a favorite, semi-trucks would be the winner.) Whatever comes his way, whether it's a fire engine or lawnmower, we can trust that Bob will have it up and running smoothly as soon as possible. Congrats on an outstanding 25 years, Bob!
