Expanding our reach for a healthy pet community

Greetings!

With the help of generous donors, we're serving our community outside our walls to help the people and pets who need us most.

Spay and neuter surgeries and vaccines save countless pet lives and protect the health of everyone in our community.

We know sometimes the cost of these services is cost prohibitive, and some community members lack transportation to make it to our clinic.

Our vaccine clinic on May 2 in Bellows Falls reached dozens of pet owners we haven't been able to help before, bringing our services to them.

On May 8 and 11, we booked dozens of free spay/neuter surgeries for cats in TriPark with the help of a generous grant. We learned quickly that this community lives with several community cats, so helping keep the feral population down also meant trapping these community cats. Our team landed with food laden traps and secured several kitties to spay/neuter and return to the community.

In response to a call for help, we did a pop-up vaccine clinic on May 8 at Groundworks and 69A, vaccinating 12 dogs.

This coming Saturday, May 16 from 11am-1pm we're partnering with Windham and Windsor Housing Trust to offer low cost vaccines to dogs and cats for residents of WWHT Brattleboro Rental Properties.

And we're working on even more of these pop-up vaccine clinics in the future.

The gratitude and trust flowing from these efforts is overwhelming, and reminds us that the health of pets in our community takes all of us working together.

We're honored to do our part in helping TriPark residents' cats, community cats, and bringing our services mobile to help people where they are. Animal welfare takes a village, and we're so grateful for the support of our community.

A $50 donation covers the cost to spay/neuter one feral cat.

$40 covers a clinic exam and bloodwork for one dog or cat.

$30 pays for vaccines for two dogs or cats.

We couldn't do anything we do without your generosity. Thank you.

Helping Cookie get back on her feet

Cookie visited us on Friday with an injured tail and foot after being attacked by something overnight.

This darling opposum is a 2nd grade classroom pet who lives outdoors.

The teacher brought her in to see Dr. Kelly, concerned about her injuries. Dr. Kelly fixed her right up, and sent her on her way. We're so happy we were able to help Cookie get back on her feet!

(Please note that our shelter is only able to assist wildlife if there is a wildlife rehabilitation certified veterinarian on the premises. We could only assist Cookie because Dr. Kelly is both!)

Calling all trivia lovers

Our next Animal Themed Trivia Night at the Marina in Brattleboro is coming up on May 20 at 6pm and we hope to see you there!

We do 4 rounds of trivia, all about animals, with prizes at the end of each round and a grand prize for the team/person with the highest cumulative score.

A $20 donation pays for all 4 rounds, and 100% of the funds raised go to the animals.

No need to register, just come and play!

Last chance to double your donation for older pets

Lexi was surrendered to us at 12 years young and forced to start over after losing the home she thought was hers forever.

We shared her story and quickly found her new mom--a kind and generous lover of senior weens who scooped her up to join her 16 year old dachshund in a home already outfitted for their comfort with a ramp up to the couch.

This happy ending was made possible by your generosity.

Donors like you give animals like Lexi time to find the right loving home to live out their golden years.

Will you support older animals and those with medical needs today?

Give now, and your gift will be doubled!

In honor of their pup Quinn, a loving family is matching donations to the Spring Appeal up to $10,000.

Thank you for giving animals with the greatest needs a second chance.

With kindest regards,

Maya Richmond,

Executive Director
