Leadership Team Updates

Dear St. Alphonsus Families,

Welcome to Maycember! It always seems like May is a crazy time of year, but it also means Summer is on its way. We are looking forward to ending the school year strong!

We wanted to take a moment to update you on some staffing changes for the 2025-2026 school year. Please keep in mind that staffing changes often happen this time of year as teachers receive contracts and take time to reflect on their plans for the next school year.

The following staff members will not be returning to St. Alphonsus next year:

5th Grade - Grace Peacock. Miss Peacock is getting married this summer and is moving out of state. We know that she will be great in her next educational adventure, and we will miss her very much!

Middle School Math/Religion - Julie Morrison. Miss Morrison has decided to move on to a different teaching environment. We thank her for her assistance the past year and a half to get our middle school math program on track and getting our students ready for high school!

Early Childhood Aide - Mr. Gerry. After more than 20 years as a devoted St. Alphonsus School volunteer, Mr. Gerry is going to ride off into the sunset and retire from volunteering. We will be hiring another early childhood aide, but no one could ever really take his place! Thank you for all your years of service, Mr. Gerry!

In addition, our current Spanish teacher, Senorita Hall, has moved on from St. Alphonsus as of last week to pursue a career outside of education. Her replacement Senora Rendon, a native Spanish speaker, has already begun teaching and will finish out the year for us. We wish Miss Hall the best of luck. Our Spanish contract company will provide us with a Spanish teacher for the fall.

We understand that staffing changes can raise questions, but please be reassured that these adjustments are a normal part of the annual contract process, and our top priority remains providing your children with a stable, supportive, and high-quality learning environment. We have posted all of these job positions already and we have several interviews lined up for this week. The Leadership Team remains confident in the stability and direction in which St. Alphonsus School is moving.

A second reminder that we will experience a lockdown drill as a school on Friday, May 9th. Our school resource officer, Officer Hudson, will be here to lead the drill. Our safety team which includes Ms. Parey, the Leadership team, both priests, our head of maintenance and our Director of Ministerial Support will be on hand to review how a Lockdown works and review the roles we play in supporting the school. Ms. Ramos plays an integral part as well, having to keep the communication piece flowing.

As the end of the year approaches, please remember to continue to follow morning carline rules. We have noticed an uptick in cars who do not exit onto Churchway and instead, cut across the lot to go back towards Loomis. Please do not RACE to exit the parking lot and beat other cars, and please remember to exit onto Churchway only.

Have a great week and enjoy the beautiful weather!

Best regards,

Ms. Parey, Principal

Mrs. Schermetzler & Mrs. Bruhn, Leadership Team

Parish Auction - Thank You!

Thank you so much for your support of this year's Parish Auction!

The auction was a great success! We will have final numbers soon, but we wanted to remind you that there are a few calendar raffles left! At the auction we drew for three big winners, but there are still nine more drawings to take place throughout the rest of the year. $4,750 in prizes are still left to be rewarded!

Stop in the Parish Office to pick up a calendar, or grab one from the gathering space after Mass. Calendars are $25 each and you can return your money to the offertory baskets on Sundays.

Please enjoy some pictures of the event!

Vacation Bible School is Back!

This summer, we are again putting on a Vacation Bible School, in conjunction with St. Martin of Tours! The Archdiocese was unable to get a team together to do Totus Tuus as they did last year (due to staffing changes), so we decided to put on our own!

It will be a morning of adventure, learning and fun!

However, in order to make this happen, we need to have volunteers! If you are able to help us, we'd love to have you! All volunteers need to be safeguarded. Please sign up at this link.
