Monterey Park Police Department to Host Town Hall Series to Engage Residents on Key Issues

Monterey Park PD is inviting residents to participate in a series of Town Hall Meetings to discuss city priorities, share concerns, and ask questions directly to city leadership. The meetings offer a platform for open dialogue and community engagement, with multiple dates and locations scheduled. Residents are encouraged to attend and help shape the future of Monterey Park.

City of Monterey Park Debuts On-Demand Transit Program with All Rides Free for Six Months

The City of Monterey Park is pleased to announce the launch of "MPK Transit Express." This public ride share program will be powered by TransitTech provider Via.

All rides are free until early September, after which rides will be only $2 each. Service will operate Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The goal of MPK Transit Express is to expand access to public transportation in Monterey Park - making it easier for residents to travel to Metro stations, workplaces, healthcare, shopping centers, restaurants, and other places without a personal vehicle.

Business-to-Business Expo Offers Networking Opportunities for Local Entrepreneurs

The City of Monterey Park will host a Business-to-Business Expo & Networking Event on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 6– 7:30 p.m. at the Barnes Park Service Club.

The event offers local entrepreneurs a chance to showcase products and services, connect with potential collaborators and grow their professional networks. Complimentary snacks and beverages will be provided. Registration is encouraged.

Monterey Park Celebrates Cinco de Mayo on May 8

The City of Monterey Park invites the community to its annual Cinco de Mayo celebration on Thursday, May 8 at Barnes Park.

This free, family-friendly event will feature live entertainment, cultural performances, food vendors, games, and activities honoring Mexican heritage and community spirit. All are welcome to join the festivities and enjoy a vibrant afternoon of music, culture, and fun.

Happy Birthday Monterey Park Play Days Carnival May 8-11

Join the City of Monterey Park for its 109th Birthday Celebration on Thursday, May 8 through Sunday, May 11 at Barnes Park.

This free community event will feature live entertainment, food, games, cultural displays and more to commemorate the city’s founding. Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate Monterey Park’s rich history and vibrant community spirit.

Monterey Park Fire Department Fire Service Day and Pancake Breakfast on May 17

Join us for Fire Service Day on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Station 61

Start the day with the Larry Sullivan Memorial Pancake Breakfast ($10 cash) from 8–11 a.m., then enjoy free activities from 11–2 including live demos, fire truck tours, face painting and more. Fun for the whole family!

Station 61 is located next to city hall at 350 W. Newmark Ave., Monterey Park, CA 91754.

Mental Health and Healing Take Center Stage at Monterey Park Fair

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the City of Monterey Park will host a Mental Health, Healing Arts & Wellness Fair on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Barnes Park Gym, located at 350 S. McPherrin Ave.

This free community event will feature wellness activities, mental health resources, healing arts, and family-friendly programming. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with local organizations and services focused on emotional well-being, support and recovery.

Free Volunteer Tax Assistance Available at the Library

Individuals or families whose income is less than $67,000 are invited to participate in Chinatown Service Center’s free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Clinic.

Sessions are available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday by appointment only. For more information, please visit the library website.

Bulky Item Collection is FREE With a Phone Call or E-request

Bulky items are ones that are too large to fit in your automated container or dumpster, such as old furniture, mattresses and appliances.

Typical items include sofas, rugs, lamps, stoves, refrigerators, chairs, desks, as well as bundles of cardboard or palm fronds.

Monterey Park City Hall is open for in person services during the following hours:

Monday through Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Friday: Closed.

Other city facilities such as Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library, Langley Senior Center and the police counter will have other operating hours. For more information, please visit the city website or contact the desired department.
