Austin Coming Together buys Walser House

Local nonprofit Austin Coming Together (ACT) has purchased the Walser House on the West Side of Chicago to revitalize as a community asset.

ACT’s attention will now turn to stabilizing the house as they begin to plan for its restoration. We are excited that our persistent advocacy efforts have helped put the house in the hands of a dedicated new steward, and we will continue to share updates as work proceeds.

ENDANGERED: Sturges House, Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Conservancy recently added Sturges House to its L.A. Watch List of endangered buildings.

Perched on a steep hillside in the Brentwood Heights neighborhood, this 1939 house is the only example of Wright’s Usonian residential architecture in LA. Despite its significance and local landmark status, it is experiencing ongoing deterioration due to prolonged deferred maintenance.
