August 2026

Hi all,

Thought I'd have a little fun with the newsletter pictures this month. The top photo shows 28-year-old British runner Josh Kerr after he set a new men's one-mile world record on July 18, 2026 of 3 minutes, 42.66 seconds. The previous record of 3:43.13 had stood for 27 years. Consider that before Sir Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute barrier by running 3:59.4 on May 6, 1954, many actually believed that running under 4 minutes for the mile was physiologically impossible. It was thought that the heart or lungs might burst or "explode" from the extreme pressure. And yet here we are at 3:42!

At the other end of the spectrum, we have in the lower photo showing 95-year-old American runner Colleen Milliman setting the world record for the women's one-mile run in the 95-99 age division with a time of 13 minutes, 46.13 seconds on May 7, 2022. How about that for those who feel they're too old for exercise?

I hope you are doing well and continuing to live the healthy lifestyle. That healthy lifestyle should include the fountain of youth - exercise!

ALSO, PLEASE NOTE: We have a new office cell number for texting and urgent calls (908) 377-3525.

Our main number during our regular office hours is still the same (908) 754-9580, but this new cell can be used to contact us when we are out of the office, or during our office hours if you would rather text than call. We will do our best to get back to you quickly when you use that cell number.

Enjoy the latest edition of our newsletter and Happy August!

All my best,

Dr Dave
