Re: Doubling Down On Advocacy
Date: June 24, 2022
Dear Alliance members and friends -
Yesterday marked the two year federal birthday of our 501(c)6 status.
Today marks something else.
As you know, the Alliance is built on four pillars; Education, Philanthropy, Professional/Business development, and Advocacy.
Without diving into politics, I ask each and every one of you reading this to reflect on the meaning and purpose of the advocacy work we do at this organization.
We fight (tirelessly) for equal access to housing under the law. We fight for equity and justice for our community in our industry. We fight so that no member of our family will feel the painful dagger of hate or discrimination. And, we fight so that every letter in our acronym has the dignity they deserve.
Today our organization and the work we do became more important than it ever has been previously. We are the guardians and gatekeepers of fair housing for our community. We must continue to march forward, lockstep, undeterred in our mission, together. The Alliance will no longer sit idly and hope others do the "right thing" where it pertains to funding politicians who spawn discriminatory and hateful legislation aimed and restricting or reversing basic human rights.
Finally, and most importantly going forward from this day, I want the 828 women in our membership to know and hear directly from me very clearly: We see you. We hear you. We value you. We will not let you be erased.
Keep the faith my friends.
Yours in Pride,
